More than 9 thousand Palestinian detainees are in Israeli prisons

Prisoners' institutions said that the number of detainees in Israeli prisons reached more than 9,500 detainees, including 80 female detainees and more than 200 children distributed among the "Megiddo, Ofer, and Damoun" prisons. This does not include all Gaza detainees who are subject to the crime of (enforced disappearance).


In a fact sheet it reviewed about the reality of detainees since October 7, the prisoner institutions noted that the number of administrative detainees had risen to more than 3,660 detainees as of the beginning of April, including 22 women and more than 40 children. In addition to the increase in the number of sick detainees, the number of detainees classified by Israel as illegal combatants has reached 849, and the number of detained journalists has reached 56, including 45 who were arrested after October 7, and are still in detention, including 4 female journalists.


It indicated that the number of former detainees after the death of detainee Walid Daqqa reached 21 detainees, the oldest of whom is detainee Muhammad Al-Tus from the town of Al-Jabaa in Bethlehem Governorate, who has been detained since 1985.


The number of detainees serving life sentences is about 600, the highest-sentenced detainee Abdullah Al-Barghouti, who has been sentenced to 67 life sentences, followed by Ibrahim Hamid, who has been sentenced to 54 life sentences.


Regarding the deaths of the captive movement, the institutions indicated that the number rose to 252 deaths since 1967, after (16) detainees rose inside Israeli prisons. This does not include all the deaths of the captive movement after October 7, while the identities of the majority of deaths of Gaza detainees continue to be hidden. Those who died in the camps of the Israeli army, while the number of detained dead prisoners whose bodies are being held is 27, the oldest of whom is the Anis Dawla, whose body has been detained since 1980.


The paper pointed out that 240 male and female detainees were released in 7 exchange batches, and the occupation later re-arrested 15 of them, later releasing two, and maintaining the detention of 13, including 5 children and 4 female detainees.
