Blinken: We seek to extend the truce in Gaza and release more detainees

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Wednesday that he would seek to extend the truce in Gaza during his upcoming visit to Israel.

“Over the next two days, we will focus on doing everything we can to extend the truce so that we can continue to remove more detainees and provide more humanitarian aid,” Blinken said after a NATO meeting in Brussels.

An American official said yesterday, Tuesday, that US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, will stress to all partners in the region the continued flow of aid to Gaza.

The US State Department said that Blinken will travel to Belgium, North Macedonia, Israel, the West Bank, and the UAE from Monday to Saturday.

The Foreign Ministry statement said: “We will discuss continued efforts to ensure the release of the remaining detainees, protect civilian lives during Israeli operations in Gaza, and accelerate humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.”
