Washington Post: The ground attack will not exceed 3 months for fear of the collapse of Israel’s economy

The Washington Post quoted Israeli officials as saying that Tel Aviv expects the ground attack on the Gaza Strip to continue for three months. They attributed this to the fact that its continuation for a longer period would lead to the collapse of the Israeli economy, given the large number of reserve soldiers who were called up to participate in the war on the Strip.

The source added that Israel does not yet have a clear vision of “the next day in Gaza,” that is, after the end of the war. They stated that an intense debate in Israeli decision-making centers has reached a dead end regarding the timing of withdrawing some reserve soldiers and restarting the economy.

The newspaper adds - quoting Israeli officials - that most senior commanders expect to reduce the number of forces and withdraw them within a month or two.

According to the Washington Post, Israeli leaders believe that the war on Gaza has entered a new phase that requires reducing Israeli forces in the Strip and reducing bombing operations as well, which will reduce the number of Palestinian casualties.

Israel summoned a record number of reserve soldiers - 300,000 soldiers - as part of the mobilization for its war on the Gaza Strip, in response to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on multiple fronts.

Israel has been continuing its devastating war on Gaza for about a month and a half, and the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced - yesterday, Saturday - that more than 200 Palestinians were killed in a bombing that targeted Al-Fakhoura and Tal Al-Zaatar schools.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has led to the death of more than 12,300 Palestinians, most of them children and women, and the injury of more than 29,000 others.
