The Journalists Syndicate called on the Palestinian Public Prosecution to expedite the investigation procedures in the case of fellow journalist Mervat Al-Azza , and to take all effective measures to achieve justice. This came in a letter sent by the President of the Syndicate of Journalists , Nasser Abu Bakr, to Attorney General Akram Al-Khatib .
The Syndicate expressed its full support and support for colleague Al-Azza, and called for speed and seriousness in the course of judicial procedures, and in the course of work of the proposed investigation committee, especially since the data and testimony provided by colleague Mervat indicate the occurrence of a crime (indecent assault) that requires a deterrent penalty, and the need to take action Additional measures and procedures during medical examinations and operations for women in hospitals and medical centers.
The Syndicate affirmed its keenness and continuous work to protect female journalists and provide safe working conditions and living conditions for female journalists. It urged male and female journalists in particular to be brave, report and reveal any violations committed against them. It indicated that the Women’s Committee in the Syndicate has been working for many years to improve the situation of female journalists, support their issues and demands, and support Those who are exposed to any abnormal behavior, and any abuser is held accountable.
