3 people were killed in a natural gas line fire in Cairo

CAIRO - (Xinhua) - Three people were killed today (Saturday) in a fire that broke out in a natural gas pipeline in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.


Cairo Governorate stated in a statement on its official page on the meeting website (Facebook) that the central operations room in the governorate had received a report of a fire in the gas line at the intersection of Al-Nasr Road with Ahmed Fakhry Street in the Nasr City neighborhood.


The statement indicated that Major General Khaled Abdel-Al, Governor of Cairo, Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Director of Cairo Security, Civil Protection Forces, and officials of the gas company and utility companies immediately moved to the site of the accident, which “resulted in 3 deaths.”


The civil protection forces were able to extinguish the fire and carry out cooling operations, and the line is being repaired by the gas company.
The forensic laboratory experts were also notified to remove the traces of the fire and find out its causes, according to the statement.
