Illinois - (dpa) - Fast food chains and restaurants in the United States, including McDonald's and Wendy's, are preparing to offer free or reduced price French fries to their customers, on the occasion of the celebration of "National French Fries Day" tomorrow, Wednesday, the 13th. From July.
French fries, which actually originated in Belgium, are one of the most popular side dishes around the world.
And the "McDonald's" restaurant chain intends to provide large orders of fried potatoes for free to subscribers in its loyalty program, without the need to purchase them, by ordering through the "McDonald's" electronic application only.
It is reported that "McDonald's" uses about 7% of all the quantities of potatoes that are grown in the United States, in order to provide orders for French fries.
The "Wendy's" restaurant chain will also offer a free order of French fries with any purchase made through its electronic application available on mobile phones, for subscribers to its loyalty program.
