16 Martyrs in Gaza in Two Days, Israeli Demolition Operations Continue in Khan Yunis

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today, Saturday, that hospitals received 16 martyrs and 16 injured individuals over the past forty-eight hours, amidst escalating Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025. Medical sources clarified that these victims fell as a result of direct shelling or succumbed to previous injuries, in addition to the retrieval of bodies from under the rubble of destroyed homes.

The Ministry detailed in its statement that among the seven martyrs who recently died, six were martyred due to shelling and direct gunfire, while the seventh succumbed to an old injury. Rescue teams also successfully recovered nine bodies of martyrs who were missing under the rubble in areas previously subjected to shelling, raising the official death toll.

On the ground, occupation forces escalated systematic destruction operations in the southern Strip, where engineering units carried out extensive demolition and blasting operations targeting entire residential blocks in the eastern and northeastern areas of Khan Yunis city. Local sources confirmed that the explosions were concentrated in the town of Bani Suhaila, areas under the control and incursion of occupation vehicles that continue to destroy infrastructure there.

Demolition operations in Khan Yunis coincided with intense low-altitude flights by Israeli warplanes, causing panic among displaced people in the western areas of the city. In the city of Rafah, in the far south, Israeli artillery targeted northwestern areas with shells, while occupation forces launched flares into the sky over the western parts of the city amidst suspicious military movements.

In Gaza City, the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in the east witnessed a field escalation, characterized by Israeli tanks firing their heavy machine guns randomly and intensely towards citizens' homes. The gunfire was accompanied by artillery shelling targeting the outskirts of the neighborhood, reflecting the occupation's insistence on breaching the fragile truce and targeting civilians in various governorates of the Strip with impunity.

With this new toll, the total number of victims of the genocide war waged by the occupation since October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,090 martyrs and 173,553 injured. Official data indicates that the occupation's violations of the last ceasefire agreement alone have resulted in the martyrdom of 1,066 individuals and the injury of thousands of others since the agreement came into effect months ago.

This escalation comes at a time when Gaza continues to suffer from massive destruction affecting about 90% of its civilian infrastructure due to two years of continuous shelling. UN reports confirm that the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe requires immense international efforts, as the cost of rebuilding what the occupation has destroyed is estimated at more than $70 billion, amidst the ongoing siege and daily military violations.

The toll of victims resulting from the occupation's violations of the ceasefire agreement alone has reached 1,066 martyrs and 3,445 injured since last October.
