Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the martyrdom of 7 Palestinians and the retrieval of the bodies of 9 others during the past forty-eight hours, due to ongoing Israeli aggressions. This new toll raises the total number of victims of the genocide war since October 2023 to more than 73,000 martyrs, amid continued violations of the announced ceasefire agreement.
On the ground, sources reported that the occupation army has not stopped carrying out demolition and bombing operations of residential buildings in the eastern areas of Gaza City and the central part of the Strip. The systematic destruction operations also included the southeastern neighborhoods in the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah, where massive explosions were heard shaking the border areas since late night hours.
The demolition operations coincide with intense flights of reconnaissance drones at very low altitudes over residential neighborhoods and displacement camps. Local sources confirmed that the sound of these aircraft has become a harbinger of concentrated targeting operations carried out daily by the occupation, keeping residents in a constant state of anticipation and security anxiety.
The residents of the Strip face a complex living and humanitarian reality amid the expansion of Israeli military control, which has covered about 70% of Gaza's area. The annexation of large parts of the central Strip to what is known as the 'Yellow Line' has deprived thousands of families from returning to their residential areas, which have turned into rubble, amid a complete absence of basic services.
On the humanitarian front, Israeli control imposes strict restrictions on the movement of individuals and goods, which has hindered the access of essential relief aid to the besieged population. The closure of crossings and military control have also prevented hundreds of wounded and sick people from traveling abroad for treatment, exacerbating the health catastrophe suffered by the Strip.
It is worth noting that the ongoing genocide war since October 7 has left widespread destruction affecting about 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. With continued bombing and demolition, international fears are growing about the impossibility of living in areas controlled by the occupation, in the absence of any security guarantees for Palestinian civilians.
The sounds of explosions are still continuously heard, coinciding with continuous flights of Israeli drones at low altitudes.
