Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang stated that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an integral part of Palestinian territories.
This came during a press conference held in the capital Beijing today, Monday, where he addressed the decision of Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal to recognize the State of Palestine.
He emphasized the necessity of ensuring the legitimate national rights of Palestine and implementing the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).
He stressed that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an integral part of their land, adding: "A comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza must be reached, and the humanitarian disaster must be alleviated immediately."
In reference to the United States, the spokesperson said: "The state that exerts special influence over Israel must take steps to fulfill its responsibilities."
He confirmed China's readiness to work with the international community to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, support the Palestinians in regaining their legitimate national rights, and find a fair, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the issue.
