"The Resilience Fleet" is heading towards Gaza.. and the Libyan ship "Omar Mukhtar" is sailing to join it.

In the largest international move to break the siege on the Gaza Strip in years, the ship "Omar Mukhtar" set sail from the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on Sunday, to join the "International Resilience Fleet," which includes dozens of ships loaded with aid and activists.

This step, which enjoys popular and official Libyan support, comes at a time when the fleet is heading towards a gathering point in the Mediterranean Sea, under close surveillance from Israeli reconnaissance aircraft.

The "Resilience Fleet" is the largest movement of its kind since the Freedom Flotilla incident in 2010, which was attacked violently by occupying forces at sea, resulting in the martyrdom of several activists aboard the "Mavi Marmara" ship.

The Libyan ship, named after the resistance hero "Omar Mukhtar," carries about 20 people on board, including Libyan doctors and human rights activists from Scotland and Canada, in addition to former Libyan Prime Minister Omar al-Hassi, which gives the journey a notable political dimension.

The ship is equipped with a fully integrated medical unit for emergency care, named after the Palestinian prisoner Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Al-Shifa Hospital, who was arrested by the occupying forces.

According to the International Committee to Break the Siege, dozens of ships departing from several countries loaded with humanitarian and medical aid will soon gather near the Maltese shores to form a unified fleet sailing collectively towards the shores of the Gaza Strip.
