The Group of Eight Islamic countries calls for an "immediate and permanent" ceasefire in Gaza

Today, Saturday, the Group of Eight Islamic countries called for an “immediate, permanent and unconditional” ceasefire and an end to the Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.

This came in a joint declaration following the extraordinary meeting of the group’s foreign ministers, hosted by the city of Istanbul, to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

The declaration called on all countries to ensure Israel's strict compliance with the interim measures ordered by the International Court of Justice.

The eight Islamic countries affirmed their "steadfast support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to obtain their inalienable rights, for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations, and for all decisions related to the Palestinian issue in international forums."

The Group of Eight Islamic countries includes: Türkiye, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
