Washington: Palestine’s membership in the United Nations is an issue that must be negotiated

Robert Wood, US Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said that full membership of Palestine in the international organization "is an issue that must be negotiated between Israel and the Palestinians."

He stressed before a closed session of the UN Security Council, where Palestine’s membership application was re-evaluated, that the United States’ position on this issue has not changed.

Wood stated that this issue is also included in the Oslo Accords, and said: “The parties must reach an agreement, as a result of which full membership must be achieved.”
