The Emirati president visits Russia on Tuesday to meet Putin

Abu Dhabi - (AFP) - UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will visit Russia on Tuesday to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, according to official Emirati media, becoming one of the few leaders of countries to pay a similar visit since the invasion of Ukraine.

The Emirates News Agency said on Monday, "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State (...) will visit tomorrow to the friendly Russian Federation, during which he will meet with His Excellency Vladimir Putin, the Russian President."

The Emirati president is scheduled to discuss with Putin "the friendly relations between the UAE and Russia, and a number of regional and international issues and developments of common concern."

The visit comes after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies in "OPEC Plus", led by Russia, agreed last week to significantly reduce production quotas, despite US President Joe Biden's recent call to Saudi Arabia to increase production to try to limit the rise in prices.

Representatives of the 13 member states of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and their 10 allies announced during their meeting in Vienna a significant cut in production quotas by two million barrels per day, as of November.

This move angered the United States, and US President Joe Biden expressed "disappointment with the short-sighted decision of OPEC +."

The UAE has long been a strategic regional partner for Washington, but, like its other Gulf neighbors, it is trying to find a balance in its relations with its growing political and economic ties with Moscow.

While the world hastened to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the majority of the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE, avoided condemning Moscow directly, calling for a peaceful solution.

The UAE abstained from voting on a draft resolution drafted by the United States and Albania condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The UAE is also trying not to harm its relations with European countries as a result of its position.

Germany, seeking to diversify its energy sources, reached an important agreement with the UAE, which is rich in oil and gas, last month, stipulating that the Gulf country will supply the European country with liquefied natural gas and diesel in 2022 and 2023, during a visit by Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Abu Dhabi.

The visit of the Emirati president to Russia is his third foreign visit since his election to office last May, after Saudi Arabia, where he met with US President Joe Biden and France.

He is one of the few presidents who decided to visit Russia since the beginning of its invasion of Ukraine last February.

A newspaper of the Syrian regime: The delegation of "Hamas" from the "resistance wing" and not the "Brotherhood wing" will visit Damascus within days

Damascus - "Al Quds" dot com - Al-Watan newspaper, which is close to the leadership of the Syrian regime , stated, on Monday, that the latter will receive, during the next few days, a delegation that includes the Palestinian resistance factions.

According to the newspaper, the delegation includes leaders from the " Hamas " movement, specifically from the resistance wing and not the Brotherhood wing - as it described it - after it recently issued a statement in which it affirmed "its appreciation for Syria's leadership and people, and its role in standing by the Palestinian people and their just cause, and its determination to build and develop strong relationships with them.

She pointed out that the "Hamas" delegation will visit Syria after the end of its visit to Algeria to discuss the reconciliation file, pointing out that relations at this stage will be limited - as it quoted sources from Damascus - to the return of "Hamas" exclusively as a resistance faction and within a delegation representing all factions. And without having any political representation in the country.

While Khaled Abdel Majeed, Secretary-General of the Popular Struggle Front, said that he had no information so far about the issue that the Syrian leadership would receive during the next few days a delegation that includes the Palestinian resistance factions, including representatives of "Hamas".

In an interview with the Syrian newspaper, Abd al-Majid indicated that a delegation from Hamas, currently in Algeria, may visit Syria without setting an appointment from Damascus itself.

And he indicated that the factions met in Beirut last week, and they were informed that the head of the "Hamas" delegation that will visit Damascus is Khalil al-Hayyah, and that they are waiting for a date to be set by the leadership in Syria.

He considered that restoring the relationship between Hamas and Syria is a necessary step at this stage, as it is in the interests of Palestine and the countries of the resistance axis.

China's exports decline due to the "zero Covid" policy

Beijing - (AFP) - China's exports in October recorded their first decline since 2020, as health restrictions and the threat of a global recession also affected imports, according to official figures.

China has a strict COVID-19 health policy, with residents subjected to regular check-ups and quarantined people who test positive or even locked down once infections are discovered.

These measures, which have generated so much uncertainty, have hampered the economy and consumption.

Last month, China's exports fell 0.3 percent year-on-year, according to figures released Monday by Chinese customs.

This marks the worst performance since May 2020, when this indicator was in the red zone.

Despite the slowdown in the economy, China's overseas sales have remained positive in recent months. In September, China's exports rose 5.7 percent year on year.

The threat of recession in the US and Europe combined with higher energy prices has reduced demand for Chinese products.

"With the threat of a global recession, (Chinese) exports are likely to decline further" in the coming period, analyst Xichun Huang of Capital Economics warned.

Nomura Bank experts expect this decline to strengthen in the next two months, which will negatively affect the Chinese economy as a whole.

"Since high export growth has been the main driver of China's GDP growth since the spring of 2020, the contraction in exports will inevitably affect growth, job opportunities and investment," they explained.

Three years after the first cases of Covid-19 were discovered in Wuhan (center), China is still mired in the health crisis.

Despite the strict "zero Covid" policy, the country has recorded in recent days the highest number of infections since May.

With 5,000 additional infections recorded Monday, the number remains much lower than the rest of the world.

This deterioration in health conditions is reflected in China's purchases of foreign products.

Thus, China's imports also declined in October (-0.7 percent year-on-year), after a slight increase of 0.3 percent in the previous month.

The last drop in imports dates back to March, just before the lockdown was imposed in Shanghai.

Although it is a burden on the world's second-largest economy, President Xi Jinping last month confirmed the effectiveness of his "zero Covid" health policy.

Health authorities announced Saturday that they would stick "steadfastly" to this strategy, dashing the markets' hopes of easing health measures.

Analyst Ken Cheung of Japan's Mizuho Bank said the weak trade numbers could be a "window" for changing health policy.

But deregulation will only be a "long and gradual process, without much change" until next year at the earliest, said analyst Zhang Ziwei of Pinpoint Asset Management.

For their part, analysts at Nomura do not expect "a major change in the zero Covid policy (...) before March 2023 at least."

China's trade surplus in October was $85.15 billion. But this level is much lower than the July record ($101.2 billion).

The Parisian "Le Lido" in its new format opened its doors with the musical "Cabaret".

Paris - (AFP) - The famous Parisian "Le Lido" nightclub reopened under its new name "Lido2Paris". Feather dancers perform.

It was noted that the panoramic hall has not changed much in the nightclub, which was acquired in December 2021 by the giant French hotel group “Accor” from the “Sodexo” restaurant group, after causing it losses for several years, but this hall will be closed again in February to carry out works. Renewal takes months.

In the meantime, he hopes to attract a new audience through the play "Cabaret", which premiered on Broadway in 1966, and was later adapted into the famous movie with star Liza Minnelli.

The story takes place in Berlin during the 1930s, in the midst of the rise of Nazism, and centers on a young American writer who falls in love with a dancer at the Kit Kat Club.

Although it is a musical of a political nature, with songs that end with Nazi salutes, and images of dictators and tyrannical leaders on a giant screen, "Cabaret" recalls the former world of "Le Lido" through scenes of showbiz dancing and singing in the "Kit Kat Club".

"The second page (of Lido) is opening," new Lido president and technical director Jean-Luc Chauplain told AFP.
Chauplain, a former director of the Châtelet Théâtre, added that he wanted to make the Lido again "a showplace for Parisians".

He noted that "Parisians no longer come to the Lido, so it was required to reconcile with the Parisian and French public," noting that the former cabaret with "Blue Bell Girls" dancers who wore feathers, was mainly attracting tourists.

The trial of director Paul Haggis, accused of raping an advertising agent, begins

New York - (AFP) - A civil trial has begun in New York for the two-time Oscar-winning Canadian director Paul Haggis, 69, who is accused by an advertising agent of raping her in 2013, which the director denies.

The director of "Crash" and screenwriter of "Million Dollar Baby" and "Casino Royale" arrived at the court in the morning, according to an AFP photographer.

In December 2017, an advertising agent working in the field of cinema, Halay Priest, accused the Canadian director of raping her in January 2013 when she was 26 years old.

In the midst of the #MeToo wave, during which many women revealed that they had been sexually assaulted, Paul Haggis' name was mentioned as three women accused him of sexually assaulting them. However, he is being tried in New York for his alleged practices towards Halay Brest.

Last June, Haggis was arrested in southern Italy on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman, which he also denied.

And several American media indicated that Haggis' defense attorneys stated on Wednesday before the jury in the New York court that the lawsuit filed by Halay Priest was motivated by the secular church that Paul Haggis had separated from and criticized since then. Brest's lawyers denied these allegations.

Priest says in her lawsuit that the director, after showing one of his films in Manhattan on the evening of January 31, 2013, insisted on taking her to his house for a drink while she assured him of her desire to go to a bar. When they arrived at his home, Haggis repeatedly tried to molest her before forcing her to perform sexual acts and then raping her.

Haggis, best known for his co-authorship of the series "Walker Texas Ranger," won two Oscars in the Best Picture and Best Screenplay categories for "Crash." He also wrote the script for the movie "Million Dollar Baby" and the films "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" from the James Bond series.

Elections: An Opportunity, Not a Challenge

Written by: Dr. Dalal Saeb Erekat

In Palestine, at various levels, a state of confusion is evident due to the occupation, settler violence, scenes of repeated Israeli invasions, field executions, demolitions, threats of confiscation and annexation, and the increase in racist policies imposed on the Palestinian citizen, which corresponds to confusion in political decisions, starting with regard to local laws and decisions by law by the executive authority in The absence of legislative power.

After the results of the Israeli elections and the consequent possibilities in political alliances for the purpose of forming the next government, so that we as Palestinians can understand the upcoming scenarios and the role of the Arabs in influencing, we remember that the Knesset consists of 120 seats, so that any party can form a government, it needs 61 seats, And as we have presented, based on the results, Netanyahu returns to the extreme right to form the government, meaning they still need an alliance to be able to form a government, and he is still suffering because of the indictments against him, as he announced that he would start his negotiations to form a strong Zionist government without excluding any of the Zionist parties and without the alliance With the Arabs, it is natural for him to maneuver and use various tricks in order to avoid imprisonment.

The Israeli street moved to the right strongly, with the introduction of the racist Israeli parties over and over again. The statements we are witnessing regarding these alliances reflect the reality and face of all Israeli parties.

The observer of the general situation believes that the basis of the various crises is the occupation, then the division, and then the sag of the internal political system. With regard to the issue of the Palestinian political system, the problem lies in the confusion between the functions of the executive and legislative authorities and the weakness of the judicial authority. Where the executive authority has become the legislative authority, in light of the absence of the Legislative Council, the Palestinian Basic Law allows the executive authority represented by the presidency and the government to present draft laws, and according to Article 43, presidential decrees are issued that take the status of law as long as the Legislative Council is suspended in the absence of a session. Unfortunately, this fact resulted in the existence of a central authority, patriarchal and profound, which is not suitable for the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

In light of this confusion, it is obvious that we resort to Article 2 of the Basic Law, which emphasizes the separation of powers, and that the people are the source of these powers. It has become clear to everyone that the multiplicity of powers of the executive authority and its shift from implementation and oversight and its preoccupation with legislation is one of the biggest problems and challenges. Hence, we see that elections are the best procedure, as they will provide an opportunity for citizens to participate in managing public affairs, elect their representatives, and strengthen the tools of oversight and accountability. The government will also be able to Carrying out its executive and oversight duties, and the authorities will work in parallel to complete what we hope for in terms of a separation of harmony and harmony between legislation, implementation, and the judiciary.

When talking about elections, questions about the Palestinian elections are flying around:
Will Hamas agree to cooperate and hold elections in Gaza?
Will Israel agree to hold elections in Jerusalem?
Is the Palestinian Authority serious about holding elections?
Will the elections exacerbate division?
Will the world accept the outcome of democratic elections?

The Chairman of the Central Elections Committee has repeatedly expressed the importance of holding elections, and here we all hope for the cooperation of the bright-minded decision-makers who understand the importance of civil and political rights for citizens. For elections, on the contrary, should be one of the reasons for holding them.

We all remember, the Legislative Council was dissolved by the decision of the Constitutional Court. What is important today is holding these elections and reviving the legislative authority, as it is a national and societal responsibility, and efforts must be joined by all official or popular parties or civil and international organizations to support and confirm the holding of periodic elections every 4 years. We must view the occupation, division and internal flabbiness as basic motives, not obstacles to holding elections. Those who think strategically realize that elections are an opportunity, not a challenge.

Thailand exceeds the threshold of ten million tourists in 2022

Bangkok - (AFP) - Thailand , Saturday, crossed the threshold of ten million tourists since the beginning of the year, in an indication of the gradual recovery of the tourism sector, even if it has not yet recorded pre-COVID-19 pandemic figures.

At Bangkok Airport, traditional dancers and drummers greeted passengers on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight, upon the registration of more than ten million tourists since the beginning of 2022.

Representatives of the Tourism Authority handed flowers, vouchers and tickets to enter a water park to a Saudi couple, Haitham Al-Madlej and Najoud Al-Khowiter.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O-Cha saluted the solidity of entrepreneurs in the country's tourism and hospitality sector.

"We would like to build confidence that Thailand remains one of the (major) tourist destinations for people from all over the world," he said in a speech.

Upon their arrival in Thailand, tourists expressed their happiness at discovering the Thai kingdom.

With this, by the end of the year, Thailand will have received more than ten million visitors, which is a big jump compared to the 427,000 tourists it received in 2021 at the height of the measures to combat the spread of Covid-19.

More than 40 million people visited the Kingdom in 2019. The decline in tourism causes a loss to the faltering Thai economy, which is recording a growth rate lower than that of neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.

"There is still a lot of room for improvement, especially with tourists from the Asia Pacific region," Marisa Sukosol, director of the Thai Hotel Association, told AFP.

Sokosol especially hopes for signs of opening up from China, whose strict anti-Covid-19 policy bans Thailand from around 10 million visitors a year. The Chinese make up the largest percentage of tourists in Thailand.

The Thai authorities expect to receive 23 million visitors in the year 2023, which could bring the country more than 32 billion euros, according to figures from the National Council for Economic and Social Development.

Missing Palestine

Written by: Nidal Muhammad Watad

In its recent reports, the Israeli occupation was forced to admit that the fire of the Palestinian resistance spread through the armed groups, which began with the "Jenin Battalion" and extended with the emergence of the "Lions' Den" in Nablus, then finally the "Hawks' Den" in Tulkarem, and reports about the "Aswad" group. Right" in Hebron.

The confession came on the lips of security sources with the “Wala” website, which highlighted in the same context the state of the Palestinian popular embrace of these groups, as a source of great concern for the occupation that threatens to break and thwart its continuous aggression since last March on the West Bank, under the pretext of striking terrorist “cells” and restoring order to the camp. Jenin and Jenin Governorate.

The emergence of these groups brings to mind the groups that posed the greatest challenge to the occupation in the first intifada in 1987, and they were manifested by the "Black Panthers" in the Jenin region, the "Eagles" in Nablus, and the "Fatah Hawks" in the Gaza Strip, with the main difference being that the Intifada groups The first enjoyed the full support of the PLO, and at that time constituted a field sword in support of the Palestinian negotiator.

Today, these groups find themselves pursued by the occupation itself.

The failure of the occupying state to launch a swift and geographically limited campaign increases the brutality of its attacks and crimes, especially in light of the success of the commando operations and the elements that carried them out in embarrassing the intelligence of the occupying state and its army, as was evident in the operation of the "Ma'aleh Adumim" settlement, east of Jerusalem, which was carried out by And Uday al-Tamimi was martyred while the occupation was besieging the Shuafat camp and searching for him there.

However, the most dangerous thing that is happening on the land of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem is not the continuation of the aggression, but rather the absence of all of Palestine from the general Arab awareness, and from the international awareness.

Even in light of the issuance of a new UN report on Israeli war crimes, we do not see a single actual step of solidarity from the Arab countries that goes beyond statements of denunciation, nor does it transcend or transcend them to stop normalization, restore ambassadors for consultations, or reduce the level of relations, while Australia declares, Suddenly, it retracted its prior recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

It is shameful and disgraceful nationally that Palestine and its people do not find a real support in the face of the longest occupation that threatens all Arab national security, and that Palestine is not enough. About "Arab 48"

Another student was stabbed to death by her classmate in Egypt

Cairo - (AFP) - The Egyptian Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday the arrest of a student on charges of killing his female colleague after she refused to marry him, two months after a similar murder sparked outrage in the country.

Two weeks ago, a court requested that the execution of the execution of the murderer of Naira Ashraf, a student who was stabbed to death in front of her university in June, be broadcast live, "which achieves the desired public deterrence."

However, the prosecution reported on Tuesday that a 22-year-old Egyptian citizen "stabbed the victim, Salma, with several stab wounds" near the Zagazig courthouse.

The victim, who is also 22 years old, according to local media, is a student at the Faculty of Mass Communication in this city, 60 kilometers north of Cairo.

The suspected perpetrator faces the death penalty in Egypt, one of the most executed countries in the world, for his killing, which many Egyptians are now calling the "new Naira Ashraf" on social media, where the case has sparked controversy.
Many netizens saw "she was killed just because she was born a woman in a patriarchal, misogynistic society", but in this conservative country, many blame the girl who "should not be friends with a man".

Another user considered that "as long as there are supporters who make excuses for the perpetrators of these crimes, they will continue."

According to the United Nations and the Egyptian Statistics Authority in 2015, about 8 million women were subjected to violence in Egypt by their husbands, relatives, or their entourage in public places.

Six pro-Turkish fighters were killed in clashes in northwest Syria

Beirut - (AFP) - Six pro-Ankara fighters were killed in violent clashes in northwestern Syria with the Syrian regime forces and Kurdish forces, according to what was reported Monday by opposition factions and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

A statement issued by the pro-Ankara factions stated that they had confronted a "joint night infiltration operation" between the regime forces and the Kurdish forces on three axes in the Afrin district, north of Aleppo.

According to a source in Faylaq al-Sham faction, six of their fighters were killed during the attack, and two fighters are still missing.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that "violent clashes broke out between the Kurdish forces and the Syrian regime on the one hand, and the Sham Corps faction on the other" in villages in the countryside of Afrin.

The Observatory added that the Kurdish forces and the regime forces were able to advance on two axes following the attack, amid mutual artillery and missile shelling by both sides.

Local residents told an AFP correspondent that the clashes continued until Monday morning.

About 30 factions, within what is known as the Syrian National Army loyal to Ankara, which provides it with equipment, weapons and financing, share control of a border area in the north of Aleppo governorate, extending from Jarabulus in the northeastern countryside to Afrin in its western countryside, passing through major cities such as al-Bab and Azaz.
Turkish forces are also deployed in that area.

The region witnesses from time to time mutual shelling by several parties, as well as raids by the regime forces and Russia.

And identical sources said that these clashes are not related to the Turkish threats to launch attacks on sites in Syria and Iraq, after it accused the Kurds of being behind an explosive device attack in Istanbul on November 13, which killed six people.

Since 2011, Syria has been witnessing a bloody conflict that has killed about half a million people, caused massive destruction to infrastructure and productive sectors, and led to the displacement of millions of people inside and outside the country.

For its part, the "Islamic Jihad" movement said, "This operation comes within the framework of the escalation of resistance in the occupied West Bank in an organized and advanced manner, and in response to the continuous crimes of the occupation against our people in the West Bank."

It added in a statement: "The operation at the Shuafat checkpoint as a place carries another message to the enemy that the resistance will not hesitate to attack it as long as it is perched on our land and anywhere." As stated in its statement.

And she continued: "The timing of the operation is important in light of the Zionist attack on our people, which coincides with the so-called Jewish holidays." according to the text of the statement.

It considered that "the nature of the resistance operations indicates the development of the Palestinian resistance and its men, and their ability to inflict pain on the enemy is escalating day by day." According to the text of the statement.

Colombia: More than 120 human rights defenders have been killed since the beginning of 2022

Bogota - (AFP) - At least 122 human rights defenders were killed during the first seven months of this year in Colombia , which is more than the number recorded during the same period in the year 2021, an official source said Friday.

The Office of the People's Defender announced in a statement that "between January 1 and July 31, 2022, 122 murders were committed against social leaders and human rights defenders."

During the same period in 2021, ninety murders of activists were committed, while the death toll reached 145 crimes over the entire past year, according to the same source. He noted that 27 of the people assassinated in 2022 were indigenous leaders.

"The killings of social leaders and human rights defenders represent a serious assault on societies and on democracy. They are the representatives and voice of the most vulnerable," mediator Carlos Camargo said in the statement.

Social and community leaders and defenders of human rights and the environment are a target of several armed groups active in rural areas of Colombia, which have witnessed a resurgence of violence in recent years.

According to NGOs, FARC defectors, ELN guerrillas, paramilitary groups, and drug traffickers are primarily responsible for these attacks, but are sometimes state agents.

The provinces most affected are Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia and Putumayo, where armed groups compete to control drug trafficking.

Colombia is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for activists, people's representatives and other civil society activists, according to NGOs such as Global Witness International.

New Colombian President Gustavo Petro, elected in June as the first left-wing president in the country's history, has expressed his desire to mobilize the security forces to better protect social leaders and activists under threat.

The national dimension in the Palestinian issue between the past and the present

Written by: Ibrahim Abrash
The Palestinian cause was closely linked to its Arab surroundings, and what is Palestinian nationalism overlapped with what was Arab nationalism, as the term “the national dimension” of the Palestinian cause imposed itself in all the literature dealing with the Palestinian issue at the popular and official level, and how could this not be when Arab countries fought wars with Israel Military coups or revolutions took place in the name of Palestine. Indeed, Arab nationalist thought, since its inception in the middle of the twentieth century, considered the Palestinian issue a central issue for the entire nation, and all the national intellectual and political system was related to the Palestinian cause and the conflict with the Zionist entity. Arab unity is a condition for the liberation of Palestine and Arab national security. To confront the usurping Zionist entity, the rule of the military and the rejection of democracy was for the sake of Palestine as claimed by the regimes, etc., just as the Palestine Liberation Organization, at the beginning of its establishment in the mid-sixties of the last century, arose in the arms of the Arab summits and by an official Arab decision before it was partially liberated from the official Arab tutelage after the defeat of June 1967.

It can be said that the Palestinian national project upon its founding and as expressed in the first PLO Charter was not a purely national project, but was a mixture of several projects: the national project, the Arab national project, the Islamic project, and the global liberation project, and the goal that was set in the PLO Charter and as expressed in the literature of the factions The resistance at that time, which is the liberation of all of Palestine and the return of the refugees, was based on the existence of these dimensions and alliances, and the Palestinians and their revolution were the vanguard of the Arab nation in the battle of liberation, before these dimensions collapsed or their limited capabilities to change the balance of power in favor of the Palestinians were revealed.

The national dimension collapsed after the defeat of June 67, the divisions of the Arab arena, the struggle of Arab national regimes and movements with each other, the signing of the Camp David Accords, and then with the collapse of the Arab regional system following the second Gulf War. What is worse than that is that Islamic armed groups went to fight in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Sinai, Africa, etc., and did not think of fighting the Zionists who occupy Jerusalem (the first of the two Qiblas, the second of the two mosques, and the third of the Two Holy Mosques), just as the global liberation dimension declined after the collapse of the socialist camp, and the Palestinians remained They are almost alone in the face of an enemy that surpasses them in the balance of power and in its network of alliances, which strengthened after the second wave of normalization during the era of US President Trump.

There is no doubt that this dimension had many advantages in terms of popular financial and political support and the adoption of the Palestinian narrative in the media and educational curricula. Even officially, the Arab regimes continued to support the Palestinian people, whether in the stage of national liberation or after the establishment of the Palestinian Authority. They also had an important role in international forums and forums. Arab countries also embraced the institutions of the Liberation Organization and its military bases, etc.

Nevertheless, the state of confusion and ideology used to exaggerate the term of the national dimension, or to say that the Palestinian issue is the first issue of the Arabs. There was no title that represented this dimension, and every national regime or movement was/was claiming to be the title of nationalism and the most keen on the Palestinian cause, as these regimes were. And the movements are in conflict or disagreements with each other, Nasserism, the Iraqi Baath, the Syrian Baath movement, the Arab nationalist movement, and Gaddafi ... and some of them were employing the Palestinian cause to fight each other.

Because of these differences, there was no Arab national strategy to deal with the Palestinian issue, neither at the League of Arab States nor at the nationalist regimes and parties, and we remember the speech of leader Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1964, addressing a delegation from the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip when he said to them, "Whoever tells you he has a plan to liberate Palestine laughs. Upon you.” This statement came after the Syrian Baath’s promotion of the popular liberation war plan, and before that the Iraqi President Abdel Karim Qassem’s attempt to form an army for the liberation of Palestine before his overthrow in 1963.

With full appreciation for all that the Arab nation has provided to the Palestinian people and is still providing until today, the successive Arab regimes bear responsibility for the loss of Palestine. 78% of Palestine was lost due to the defeat of 7 Arab armies against Zionist gangs in 1948 (the Nakba) and the rest of Palestine, in addition to Arab lands lost due to The aggression of June 1967 until the October 1973 war was under the title of restoring the occupied Arab lands in 1967, and part of it was recovered, but at a political price (the Camp David Accords), which represented a fatal blow to the national dimension of the Palestinian cause.

Does all of the above mean the end of the national dimension of the Palestinian cause?

We do not believe that, and it is more correct to talk about this dimension in light of a changing Arab and global world, and these are variables whose most important results are the emergence of problems and challenges facing Arab countries that have become a matter of concern and have priority over major national issues, including the Palestinian issue, and with our belief that the United States of America and Israel are behind what has been exposed The Arab nation has collapsed in recent decades, especially during the so-called (Arab Spring), but this does not mean ignoring the emergence of local or national priorities for each Arab country and risks from neighboring countries or of an economic nature, which requires a new vision of Palestine's relationship with its Arab surroundings, even With the recent wave of normalization, which may extend to other countries, the matter requires a new approach to the national dimension of Palestine that does not break with the normalizing countries, but rather tries to benefit from this variable without ceasing to show the danger that the Zionist entity poses to the Arab nation and its malicious goals behind normalization with the Arab countries.

A questioner may ask, what about the national dimension and the Palestinians themselves and their role or responsibility for the decline of the national dimension?

For objectivity and fairness, it must be recognized that the emotional, human, and enthusiastic side was one of the pillars of Arab national thought, including the national dimension of the Palestinian cause. Idealism was playing against realism in the Arab national ideology. Without ignoring the component of belonging and common history, boycotting Israel and supporting the Palestinian people and considering normalization a betrayal stemmed from the hostility of the Arab peoples to the West, the ally of the Zionist movement and its actual founder. It also stemmed from a sense of grievance for the Palestinians who face a Zionist movement behind which the whole West stands and practices terrorism against the defenseless Palestinian people as well. The Arab peoples were affected by what was reported by the Arab media about the massacres of Deir Yassin, Kafr Qassem, and others, and with the launch of the contemporary Palestinian revolution, which Gamal Abdel Nasser described as the noblest phenomenon known to history, the state of support and sympathy for the Palestinian revolutionaries increased, especially after the defeat of June 1967, when the Arab peoples considered the commando action And the war of popular liberation as if it was a response to the Arab dignity wasted in the June war.

The entry into the Palestinian revolution, whose title is the Palestine Liberation Organization, is a political settlement and recognition of Israel after the Madrid conference of 1991 and the signing of the Oslo agreement in 1993. Then the division and its repercussions wounded the romanticism and purification of Arab nationalists and many Western peoples. However, it must be recognized that some Arab regimes and movements bear responsibility for the collapse of the Palestinian situation through their interference in Palestinian internal affairs, the establishment of affiliated Palestinian organizations, and the use of political money to strengthen a Palestinian faction at the expense of other factions, and even at the expense of the unity of Palestinian representation. In addition to its role in the division industry recently

There is no doubt that the presence of the Palestinian cause in the Arab world is not as it was before, but the state of ironing awareness practiced by the Zionist and American media and the media of some countries that print on the Arab peoples will fail, as indicated by the latest opinion polls within the countries that print, and the Palestine issue will remain the concern of the Arab peoples because it represents the fairest cause in the world The Zionist entity represents the worst regime in the world and the most practiced racism, and we do not believe that the Arabs will be less equitable to the Palestinian people than the majority of countries and peoples of the world that recognize the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and their right to an independent state on their land as stipulated in many United Nations resolutions and recommendations.

Finally, the state of affairs needs to correct the Palestinian-Arab relations officially and popularly, and to understand the dangers and threats to which some Arab countries are exposed.

(The article with this title was originally a speech I delivered on the fifteenth of this month at Yarmouk University in Jordan in a symposium on the sidelines of the celebration of Irbid, Capital of Arab Culture. My attendance was at the kind invitation of the Minister of Culture in Jordan, Mrs. Haifaa Al-Najjar).

A comprehensive openness to Israel serves Turkish interests

Written by: Tamara Haddad
The Turkish regime is considered the most cunning and skillful in formulating positions and framing foreign relations, including the “Turkish-Israeli” ones. Before the recently announced normalization, the relationship showed a political discrepancy between apathy and advancement, and a continuous economic love. Relationship with the Arabs and their issues, and in some of its periods witnessed qualitative shifts that established relationships of a special nature that are completely far from the ideological context that is openly expressed.

Since Turkey has established relations with Israel since 1949, it has known periods of ebb and flow, and Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Israel, on March 28, 1949, less than a year after its establishment on May 14, 1948, and Turkey built its relations with Israel on the basis of common interests.

In some periods, the economic cooperation between Turkey and Israel declined, which reflected more negatively on the Turkish economy, which faced great difficulties, and the value of the Turkish lira fell to an unprecedented record level, so that one dollar equals 4.65 Turkish liras, so Turkey decided to resume cooperation between Turkey and Israel through normalization and formal agreement.

The recent declaration of normalization is an explicit declaration not to boycott Tel Aviv politically, regardless of any of the crises between Ankara and Tel Aviv, and this means Turkey's ability to play with the Palestinian file and the emergence of its clear role in it, and the normalization agreement is the resumption of bilateral relations between the two countries and a clear indication of Turkey's real recognition of sovereignty Israel on the land of Palestine and that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, in addition to the signing of articles that included massive security and military intelligence coordination in the region and economic coordination regarding natural gas.

Turkey is one of the most Islamic countries that have close relations with Israel, and these relations have grown greatly during the rule of parties with Islamic orientations, specifically in the military field, as in the year 2018 the Israeli defense company (ELTA) provided Turkey with electronic devices for four aircraft equipped with a warning and control system Airborne (AWACS), and Turkey bought equipment from (Boeing) and the Israeli company is just an agent of (Boeing), not to mention the strategic aspects between the two sides represented by maritime relations.

The energy field has succeeded in creating a common base for strategic cooperation between Turkey and Israel, as the latter supports from the beginning a project to extend a pipeline from the city of Baku to the port of Ceyhan to transport oil and gas from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean, with the aim of reducing the West's dependence on oil pipelines passing through Iran and Russia. Israel also supports Turkish aspirations aimed at transforming Turkey into a "global energy center", which greatly contributed to closer strategic cooperation between the two countries under the rule of the Justice and Development Party, and made them overcome the obstacles that stood in the way of the development of relations between them, which confirms the Economic cooperation is a fundamental pillar of the strategic relations between the two countries, and not only security and military cooperation, as it seems clear.
Turkey's goal is to be part of the "Strategic Century Project". This project aims to link the four seas "the Caspian, the Black, the Mediterranean and the Red", and helps link the Central Asian region with the Middle East within a Turkish vision for a pivotal role in a "larger energy project" that extends from China east to Europe. west, and from Turkey in the north to India in the south. This project includes, among other things, pipelines to transport oil, gas, water, electricity and optical fibers from Turkey to Israel.

The security cooperation projects between Israel and Turkey have contributed to changing the balance of power in the region, and we should not forget that the Turkish support for the Syrian armed opposition allowed it to cooperate with Israel. Separating Syria from Iran, the second is stopping Iranian support for resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine, and the third is forcing Damascus to conclude a peace agreement with Israel in line with the latter's calculations.

And there is Turkish-Israeli cooperation in the field of security through the establishment of an early warning base in Korajik in the city of Malatya, which is to protect Israel's security, and to give it an opportunity to spy on northern Iran through Azerbaijan.

Trade exchange between Turkey and Israel reached $4.3 billion in 2017, and there are export operations centered on petrochemical industries, given that Turkey is a transit center for the supply of energy towards Europe, not to mention the continuous tourism between the two countries.
Turkey is the first country to export cement to Israel, and the first supplier of iron to Israel, as Turkish iron products covered 45 percent of Israel's total needs in 2017.

Turkey and Israel have significant differences with regard to the Iranian nuclear issue. While Israel views the Iranian nuclear program as an existential threat, Turkey does not view Iran as a strategic threat to it, but it realizes that Iran's achievement of nuclear capabilities could change the balance of power in Iran. The region and undermines its stability, as Turkey publicly asserts that it wants the Middle East as a region free of nuclear weapons.

Iran's nuclear aspirations have fostered the "Turkish-Israeli rapprochement," as the two countries share the same fears that Iran might become a nuclear state. The decision-makers in Israel see that the presence of nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran constitutes a real threat, while the Turks see that Iran has become the first threat to them, since the Iranian nuclear weapon will constitute the most dangerous threat to the security of the Middle East region.

And if total normalization takes place between Turkey and Israel, Turkey will not abandon "Hamas", and Ankara still wants to build relations with the movement as a multi-use card, including improving its negotiating position with the Sunni forces in the region and putting pressure on "Hamas" in the event of a war with Israel to establish a long-term armistice. .

a summary:
Turkey's policy with regard to Israel was contradictory, but after the signing of the normalization agreement, the relationship became clear politically, economically, diplomatically, and in security, and whoever scrutinizes the course of "Turkish-Israeli" relations during the past years will discover that there was no crisis in the true sense, but rather a political-media-diplomatic crisis, and it was a well-studied crisis. On the Turkish level, its aim is to win over the Arab and Islamic world, and it is part of the media campaign to build a Turkish role and promote this role in the region to be an entry point to the Arab street. At a high level, we can say that opening up to Israel serves Turkish interests on the economic, military and geopolitical levels.

The Pharaohs advanced with the goals of the French Nantes strikers, Mustafa Mohamed (34), and the Turkish Trabzonspor, Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” (46), and the Red Devils narrowed the difference in the second half, through the replacement, French Lens striker Luis Obenda (76).
It is true that Belgium played the match in the absence of some key players due to injury, most notably Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, who is in doubt about his participation in the World Cup, but the performance of the captain, Real Madrid star Eden Hazard, who was a ghost in the match, and his teammates raises the concern of his Spanish coach Roberto. The loss came four days before the Red Devils played their first match in the World Cup Qatar against Canada in the first round of Group F competitions, which includes Morocco and Croatia, runners-up of the Russian World Cup 2018.
It is the fourth victory for Egypt over Belgium in five confrontations between them, in exchange for one loss.
Belgium started the match well and almost opened the scoring through Turkish Fenerbahçe striker Michy Batshuayi, who touched the crossbar (9).
The Pharaohs, who are preparing to resume the qualifiers for the 2024 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, responded with a powerful shot by Trezeguet from inside the area, which Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois pushed into a corner (11).
And the same player almost put the Pharaohs in front after he received a through pass from Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and he singled out and hit a ball in Courtois's body that turned into a corner (21).
The Egyptian team succeeded in opening the scoring when Mohamed took advantage of a pass error on the borders of the Belgium penalty area, dodging Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and hitting it to the left of Courtois (34).
Mohamed El-Shennawy saved the Pharaohs’ goal from a goal by blocking a shot by Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco from outside the area (38).
Martinez pushed Leicester City midfielder Yuri Tielemans and Galatasaray striker Dries Mertens and Obenda in place of Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken, De Bruyne and Batshuayi at the beginning of the second half, but his net conceded a second goal through Trezeguet after a pass from Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah (46).
Cotroa saved his goal from a third goal by blocking Trezeguet's single shot after a through pass from Salah (52).
Martinez involved Borussia Dortmund German defender Thomas Monnier and Anderlecht defender Jan Vertonghen in Hazard's place and French Rennes defender Arthur Theatt (71). Five minutes later, Belgium succeeded in reducing the difference through Obinda after a pass from Carrasco hit it hard into the goal (76).
Salah responded with a powerful shot that passed near the right post of Courtois' goal (87).

Germany can approve a new package of aid in the face of inflation

Berlin - (AFP) - German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said Friday that Germany can finance a new package of aid worth billions of euros in the face of inflation without abandoning the "indebtedness curb".

On August 11, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to provide a new aid package to individuals in the face of rising prices in the energy and food sectors, which is expected to be agreed this fall. But he reaffirmed his commitment to return to budgetary discipline next year, keeping the deficit at 0.35 percent of GDP.

Asked by the Rheinische Post about the size of this potential aid, the finance minister said that "a small, double-digit number of billions of euros is possible".

He added that this new package of support measures is intended for low- and middle-income families and will include "measures directed at companies that consume a large amount of energy."

Inflation in Germany was 7.5 percent in July, slightly lower than the 7.6 percent recorded in June.

But Economics Minister Robert Habeck said that the autumn and winter seasons are expected to be tough in Europe's largest economy because of the "next in the economy" energy crisis.

Germans will face higher heating and electricity bills in the fall, with the government's decision to allow higher energy prices to be felt by the end consumer.

Schultz did not specify when and how much the aid package would cost. But he reaffirmed his commitment to respecting the constitutional rules of budgetary discipline again in 2023 after three years of exception in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We expect to be able to implement our projects within the financial framework available so far," the German chancellor said.

Voices, particularly within the government-aligned Greens and the Social Democrats, called for an extension of the "debt brake" suspension in the event of a sharp deterioration in the German economy.

Maariv: The army and the Shin Bet are struggling to solve the mystery of the "Lions' Den"

A translation of "Jerusalem" dot com - The Hebrew Maariv newspaper said today, Friday, that the Israeli army and the Shin Bet security service are facing difficulties in "terrorism" emanating from the northern West Bank, which has become a challenge to the security apparatus in light of the current cells Which leads it is spontaneous and not organized and framed and known.

In a report by its correspondent and military analyst, Tal Lev Ram, the newspaper referred to the large armed cell that includes hundreds of militants from Nablus , and they are the "Lions' Den", which has become a real challenge to the Israeli security services, and little is known about it.

According to the newspaper, for many years, Israel has been confronting with high success the cells framed by Hamas, Jihad, and others, and there are intelligence and technological capabilities and operational operations in the field through arrests that have been going on for years, leading to thwarting any organized cells or infrastructure that prevented hundreds of operations that were from It can be harsh.

According to her claim, these night and intelligence activities never allow the formation of new cells, or the presence of weapons or laboratories for explosive materials and others, as was the case in previous years, which were present on the eve of the "Defensive Wall" campaign, and since that operation 20 years ago, the organizations have not returned Large cells, i.e. the ability to form cells like those they had in the past.

According to the newspaper, the Shin Bet does not see that the "Defensive Wall 2" operation may lead to guaranteed operational results, and that the current activity, which is carried out as in recent years and with force in recent months, may be the practical and most effective solution to confront the new cells.

And the newspaper stresses that the recent operations, especially against settlers and soldiers in the vicinity of Nablus, reflect the great difficulty that the Shin Bet finds in confronting these cells, especially at the intelligence level.

The newspaper says that the "Black's Den" group is seen in Nablus as the new organization of the "Sons of Fath", who are young men who do not work under a religious flag or under the auspices of an organization. Even Salman Omran, who shot a vehicle and a bus, and was arrested a few days ago, is an activist. Formerly known to Hamas, and previously arrested, he is active in the same armed group that seeks to lead the new Palestinian national line, and considers itself a "new hawk against Israel."

She pointed out that at this stage in the Shin Bet, they do not know the leadership arrangement within that group, and it seems that belonging to the group takes place after the implementation of the operation, while the use of communication networks increases the popularity of that group in the Palestinian street, and the extent of the willingness of Palestinian youth to participate with them.

She points out that the nature of the confrontation in Nablus differs from Jenin, because the former is surrounded by many settlements, settlement roads, axes, and others, which leads to shooting operations against buses, vehicles, and others. Therefore, Nablus was called the "capital of terrorism" and it subsided for years, but Currently, it is much more dangerous to the stability of the region from a security point of view, compared to Jenin.

Maariv stated that there is a state of concern among the Israeli security services about the spread of the phenomenon of what is happening in Nablus to other governorates.

It indicates that this group and even the armed groups in Jenin all arose spontaneously, and were not organized, but Hamas and Jihad are trying to exploit this to ignite the field in front of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and they provide financial aid and weapons to carry out operations for these young men, although they are not inclined to the religious or national ideology of the two movements.

And it showed that the difficulty of the army and the Shin Bet in confronting these new cells is the lack of a clear address, no institutions, no organizations, and no senior wanted persons, and therefore gathering information to thwart operations becomes particularly complex.

It indicates that the Israeli army is angry at the irresponsibility of the settlers, fearing that there will be deaths among them, as happened in the shooting operation towards the march near Nablus a few days ago, and they do not understand why the demonstration was allowed near the entrance to Nablus in a completely exposed area, but the army was careful in saying that Clearly, for fear of falling into political trouble, especially with the approaching elections.

A ninth wave of the Covid epidemic appears before Christmas in France

Paris ( France ) - (AFP) - The COVID-19 epidemic , which subsided for a short time in France after a wave in early autumn, is re-emerging, with the number of infections and hospitalizations rising, driven by low temperatures and the emergence of a new variant, which has raised fears for the health of the most vulnerable. .

On Friday, 48,629 new injuries were reported in France, compared to 33,177 new injuries the previous Friday, an increase of 46 percent.

The current rise is reflected in the "increase in the number of new hospitalizations and admissions to the intensive care unit" after "four weeks of decline," according to the Public Health Authority in its latest weekly statement. More than 4,500 hospitalizations were received during the past seven days.

"The reproduction rate of Covid has increased to more than 1 a few days ago, which means an increase in the infection rate: we are at the beginning of a more or less steady curve," epidemiologist Pascal Crepe told AFP.

Some experts have no doubt that "a ninth wave is taking shape in France in particular and in Europe, Southeast Asia and North America in general," Antoine Flauault, director of the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva, told AFP.

In France, "if we are based on previous years, we can expect the curve to continue to rise and for Christmas to provide the first lull" thanks to the school holidays, according to Flowault.

In France, the first eight waves provided some immunity to a population that had been widely vaccinated but had delayed the second dose.

And in the event that the total number of patients in hospitals (less than 19 thousand) remains below the highest levels recorded this year, the resurgence of the epidemic may lead to the exhaustion of the already faltering health system.

The hospital is already facing an epidemic of bronchiolitis on an unprecedented scale, while the upcoming seasonal influenza is raising fears of a "triple" effect.

The epidemic has claimed 158,771 lives in France, according to the World Health Organization, and more than 6.6 million deaths worldwide.

Chinese researchers are studying the production of fish feed from industrial exhaust gases

BEIJING (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have systematically reviewed the application and potential development of industrial exhaust gases in aquaculture feed protein production.

According to a recent research article published in the journal Aquaculture Reviews, the rapid growth of aquaculture requires a significant increase in the consumption of feed that relies heavily on wild forage fish, which is unsustainable, expensive and less environmentally friendly.

C1GP is produced by fermenting some unique microorganisms with carbon-bound industrial waste gas substrates, such as methane, methanol, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, which saves time, space, water and resources, and reduces greenhouse gases and waste materials. It provides sustainable protein sources.

The researchers, from the Feed Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, presented the latest progress on microorganisms, protein production technology, nutrition, products using monocarbonate as substrate, and their application in aqua feed.

The researchers investigated the carbon sequestration and nitrogen sequestration pathways in common monocarbonate gases and reviewed the types of strains.

According to the researchers, C1GP has great potential in aquatic feed production with high conversion efficiency, broad adaptability and abundant nutrients.
