First bilateral talks since 2020 between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers

Tbilisi - (AFP) - The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers held direct bilateral talks, the first between them since the war that broke out in the year 2020 between the two countries to control the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The talks in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, complement an agreement between the two Caucasus countries brokered by the European Union in May to "advance talks" on a peace agreement.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the diplomats "discussed a wide range of issues related to the normalization of relations between the two countries."

During the meeting, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stressed "the importance of a political solution to the Karabakh conflict in order to build lasting peace in the region."

The meeting between the Armenian Foreign Minister and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jihon Bayramov, took place in a tense atmosphere, against the background of mutual accusations between the defense ministers of the two countries, in which each held the other responsible for cross-border shooting from Friday night to Saturday.

After a first war in the 1990s, Armenia and Azerbaijan confronted in the fall of 2020 to control the mountainous region of Nagorno-Karabakh, which split from Azerbaijan with the support of Yerevan.

The last war resulted in the death of about 6,500 people and ended with a truce brokered by Russia.

As part of the armistice agreement, Armenia ceded large swathes of the territory it once controlled, and Russia deployed a peacekeeping force of around 2,000 military personnel tasked with monitoring compliance with the shaky truce.

In Armenia, this agreement was considered a national humiliation, and several opposition parties have organized demonstrations since mid-April against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is accused of wanting to cede more lands to Baku.

But since it invaded Ukraine in an operation it launched on February 24, Moscow has grown increasingly isolated internationally and is no longer the main mediator in the conflict.

Since then, the European Union has been leading the process of normalization between the two countries, which includes engaging in peace talks, demarcating borders, and reopening communications between them.

The Armenian Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President met in April and May in Brussels to discuss a peace agreement mediated by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who announced that the next meeting would take place in July or August.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a mountainous region, and an Armenian majority supported by Yerevan declared its secession from Azerbaijan upon the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, which led to the outbreak of a first war in the 1990s that killed 30,000 people and displaced thousands of Azerbaijanis.

Between chaos and fundamentalism is our responsibility to protect the social fabric and national destiny

Written by: Jamal Zaqout

Social manifestations have been growing in the Palestinian society for quite some time, showing the direct danger to the disintegration of the social contract, and reflecting the extent of weakness, fragility, or even the absence of the authority and its role in enforcing the law, which sometimes reaches the point that some elements and agencies charged with enforcing the law voluntarily abandon this role in the face of “power.” The claimants of the "religious authority" who work day and night to eliminate the faltering authority in most cities of the West Bank.

The failure of the official institution to carry out its duties entrusted to it constitutes the main reason for its loss of prestige, which represents the essence of just and effective authority. These two elements of the philosophy of governance are now absent in the behavior and structure of the official civil and security institution, which unfortunately in the eyes of the general public does not enjoy legitimacy and respect. Change may restore hope to people.

This situation constitutes a fertile environment for many local authorities and their social and perhaps political agendas, which are working to the best of their ability to exploit this void resulting from the absence of the law and the absence of its enforcement institutions. This explains the events that took place recently in a number of regions and universities, the most recent of which was what happened at An-Najah University, and the repeated attempts to take the law by hand, by attacking, beating and distorting the claim of "divine guardianship" over people's behavior and personal freedoms. This chaos, which has reached the level of suspicion of "collusion" or the silence of some elements of the security establishment during these events, or even its abandonment of protecting citizens when they were beaten and injured in a restaurant in Ramallah, as happened a few days ago, of course, in addition to the ongoing violations by the authority. Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the armed attack on the residents of the Bedouin village of Umm al-Nasr, north of Beit Lahiya, which resulted in the injury of a number of citizens.

The official institution's feeling of weakness and lack of confidence in its role is what explains its succumbing to the "dark fundamentalist" discourse on the one hand, or the participation of some elements of its security institution in a number of manifestations of chaos in which the law is taken by hand on the other hand.
The social tensions that deepen the crisis between the official institution and the people cannot be dealt with by the security grip, inasmuch as it requires a restoration of consideration for the foundations of justice, law, and the institution of the judicial authority, whose independence, impartiality, and prestige have also been and are being undermined, which seriously deepens the loss of confidence in it, and increases the manifestations of Attempts to take the law in hand.

The manifestations of chaos and dark fundamentalist rhetoric that quickly turn a legitimate popular protest against high prices into a demagogic demonstration against feminist and human rights institutions that fight for the freedom of society and women from occupation and oppression, and call for equality among all citizens, including between women and men, under pretexts and allegations that these institutions It encourages "social chaos", at a time when the national authority, which committed itself before its people first and the world second to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), stands aside in the face of all forms of incitement to which feminist activists and the entire feminist movement are subjected, and in front of an attempt The imposition of an intimidating discourse comes in the context of attempts to impose an "occult authority" that is parallel to or alternative to the authority of law.

The main danger to the official institution is represented, in addition to the fundamentalist chaos, in the chaos resulting in part from the struggle of the dominant group over power and the capabilities of society and its preoccupation with the arrangements for what could be called "the succession of the caliphate", or the completion of the coup control that has extended for fifteen years, at a time when it is accelerating Society's disengagement from the entire ruling political class that dominates the divisive scene with its two wings, without any third party stepping forward to provide practical answers to protect the social fabric and the national destiny of our people and their cause.

These and other manifestations remind us of what was happening fifteen years ago in the Gaza Strip, due to the weakness and isolation of the national authority at the time, and it cannot be dealt with by the force of the security grip or the practice of violence, as it is a reflection of the manifestations of the disintegration of the social contract, the failure of the political program, and the marginalization and replacement of public opinion. With a handful of misleading beneficiaries and the confusion that this generated on the national identity and the tearing of the university institution. What we need is an official position emanating from a deep awareness of the necessity of revision so that pride does not lead them to sin, just as the national and progressive forces and personalities, including those opposed to the authority, must shoulder their responsibilities at this pivotal moment that comes at the moment of the strategic Israeli attack on our cause with the aim of bringing it to its knees. Our people, investing in a state of weakness and containment of power, which imposes on everyone the need to hold a broad national meeting or what can be called a popular conference that defines the societal pillars required to be preserved in order to get out of the impasse around our necks, foremost of which is the protection of the social fabric and the maintenance of civil peace, and the overall progressive and democratic achievements What our people have already achieved in the course of their long struggle for freedom and independence.

It is true that the time for change has come, but chaos and selfishness are enemies who have accumulated the ability to bring about the required and gradual change, which corrects the compass and path of the national struggle to get rid of the occupation, and what that requires in terms of protecting freedoms and the national social fabric, and upholding justice, the rule of law and the constitutional rights of citizens, and in Foremost among them are their economic and social rights, their right to political participation and the election of their representatives. Otherwise, "we shall all be eaten as a white ox is eaten."

The idea of establishing the movement for the sake of homeland, justice and democracy "Wa'ad" was a promising and serious attempt that attracted serious attention at the time from various social sectors and in most regions. Public life, including from some of those who claim to be keen on democracy and change, but the need for this idea still exists. Is it possible to go back to it and draw lessons from that experience with what it has and what it has towards the possibility of contributing to a renaissance that establishes with all other sincere efforts to crystallize a broad national democratic movement whose core function is to protect society and enhance its steadfastness and national immunity? The answer, of course, is to draw all those who are zealous about preserving the diversity of society and its intellectual and political pluralism, restoring hope for future generations, and always moving away from claims of monopolizing virtue and truth.

The prisoner, Shadi Maali, is in isolation cells, in revenge for his persecuted son, Jad

Bethlehem - "Jerusalem" dot com - Najeeb Farraj - The Israeli occupation forces isolated the prisoner, Shadi Issa Maali (44 years), from the Dheisheh refugee camp, in a solitary cell in the Negev desert prison, as part of the continuous pursuit of family members to pressure his son Jad to hand over Himself.

The story of the young man, Jad (20 years), goes back to about a month and a half ago, when the occupation forces raided his family’s house in the camp, destroyed its contents, and tried to arrest him, but they did not find him in the house, so they arrested his grandfather and uncle Jihad to pressure him to turn himself in, and after hours they were released under clear threat. That if Gad did not turn himself in, they would find him murdered.

A week later, the occupation soldiers stormed the house again, repeating their act of vandalizing the house, arresting his uncle Omran and detaining him for hours, threatening him similarly, before storming him again and arresting his two brothers Jihad and Maali, then his other brother Alaa after being kidnapped by a special force from his workplace.

Jad's family received many phone calls from the occupation intelligence officers, who constantly threatened the family, amid other measures, including throwing leaflets warning camp residents against providing assistance to Jad and his companion Laith al-Atrash.

According to Maali’s family, these procedures reached the conclusion that the occupation forces isolated the prisoner Shadi in the cell, by a decision of the Israeli intelligence, and there has been no news of him from the family since Eid al-Adha, as the family is prevented from visiting him or obtaining any information about him, as a form of pressure that is masterful. It has the occupying forces.

And when the four brothers of Shadi were arrested, six of them became imprisoned, in addition to Shadi and Muhammad, who was arrested about 20 years ago, and was sentenced to life imprisonment for 21 times, on charges of belonging to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. As for Shadi, who has been in administrative detention for more than 20 months, he previously He has spent about 18 years in prison, half of which is under administrative detention, claiming that he is one of the cadres of the Popular Front, and the arresting forces target him for continuous prosecution at frequent intervals.

Shadi was arrested four times in ambushes set up by the Special Units, disguised as civilians, in more than one location and place in Bethlehem Governorate.

According to the site, Acting Prime Minister Naftali Bennett voted in favor of the agreement, although it was previously reported that he would refuse to sign it.

Bennett said in a tweet to him via Twitter, that the border demarcation negotiations took place during his presidency of the government, and that he voted on them today because they do not represent harm to Israel, nor do they achieve achievements for Lebanon, and therefore they are acceptable.

While a statement by the Cabinet said after the vote: "There is an importance and urgency to reach a maritime agreement with Lebanon during this period."

During the session, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and Intelligence Division Chief Aharon Haliva presented the updated intelligence review to the ministers and spoke about the security need for the agreement as well as the security assessments.

The agreement will be presented to the Knesset for a vote.

Where are the Arabs from the occupation’s attacks that are increasing and not stopping?!

Jerusalem ' class='highlighted-tag'>Hadith of Jerusalem
The occupation authorities claim that the attack on the funeral of the martyr Sherine Abu Aqelah was necessary, and an Israeli police investigation justified the use of force and assault on those who were carrying the coffin, and the deceased almost fell to the ground as a result of this inhuman behavior.

In another context, the occupation authorities rejected the precautionary decision and the appeal to reject the decision to demolish about 17 houses in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, and in addition to that, they issued demolition notices and stopped building houses in different areas of the West Bank, including the city of Jerusalem , and closed several roads to prevent citizens from reaching their lands that were destroyed. The occupation authorities plan to confiscate it.

Among the worst of these practices is the occupation forces storming the city of Jenin and its camp, which led to the death of three young men who were in a car and the wounding of several others, and they announced worthless pretexts for all these practices.

The occupation forces also provide protection to all extremists who continue to storm the Holy Mosque and perform religious rituals in its vastness. The Israeli government has prepared a Judaization project that suffocates East Jerusalem . Its plan starts from Al-Anbiya Street in the west of the city, all the way to Bab Al-Amoud area in East Jerusalem , and Sultan Suleiman Street to the most important and largest street in East Jerusalem , which is Salah Al-Din Street. This plan aims to deepen the connection between East and West Jerusalem , on the one hand, and strangle the Palestinian national economy, on the other hand.

Of course, the plans for expansion and settlement also, and in the Jordan Valley in particular, come within the framework of the campaign to eliminate any possibilities for the establishment of a Palestinian state, which is what they dream of and fear nothing but our presence in this land and our adherence to our rights and our future despite all these challenges.

And it remains a last word for all Arab and Islamic countries, and we see their senior officials fighting with speeches and statements and doing nothing on the ground, on the contrary, we see some of them hastening to normalize with this occupation despite all its practices!!

Talking about a two-state solution is meaningless

Residents of Qatar are waiting for their business to flourish during the World Cup

Doha - (AFP) - In the popular Souq Waqif in Doha, flags of countries, football shirts, scarves and hats are scattered in shops whose owners hope to become a destination for hundreds of thousands of World Cup fans coming to the desert emirate, which awaits a recovery in its economic cycle and tourism sector.

In the middle of an earthen trough in the market, two workers in traditional white robes help two customers ride two camels as they tour the site. But interested customers can take a larger tour outside the narrow alleys of the market known as "camel ride", in an area close to the Amiri Diwan.

The head of the market's stables unit, Abd al-Rahman Muhammad al-Nama, expects "a huge crowd in the coming period, which will happen for the first time in Qatar ," considering that visitors "will be interested in riding camels and horses, which are considered part of the country's heritage."

"God willing, we are ready," he asserts.

"I believe that many tourists will have a passion to see the camels, because they are not found in European countries and East Asian countries, and they will take pictures with them," he added.

After a massive fire in 2003 destroyed large parts of it, Souq Waqif, which dates back more than a hundred years, was restored and is one of the most famous heritage sites in Qatar. It is said that the sellers at the time were standing at its entrances to sell their goods, which explains the name.
During the World Cup, which begins on November 20 and lasts a month, Souq Waqif will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In the pedestrian alleys, visitors walk between low-rise buildings amidst a series of archways decorated with windows and wooden beams.
"The fans will have a lot of fun," says Yasmine Ghanem, a 28-year-old golfer with the Qatar national team, who was sitting in a cafe in the market. "It will be a great experience, a mixture of Arab culture and football."

On weekends, the market is crowded with visitors of all ages, including children buying balloons from street vendors and families riding around in a small colorful train, while a group of people stand in front of a Turkish ice cream seller watching his acrobatic show.

It is expected that the spherical wedding will give an impetus to the tourism sector in the country, which expects an influx of more than a million visitors during the World Cup between November 20 and December 18.

Hani Al-Kreidi, an Egyptian tour guide who was drinking tea in a cafe, said, "I am studying a lot now so that I can be an ambassador for Qatar and give information to visitors, in order to introduce them to the history of Qatar and its attractions."

Antiques, handicrafts, fabrics, carpets, furniture, decorations, jewelry, and musical instruments are sold in the market... Souvenir shops are especially preparing for a great turnout, displaying lanterns, small statues of colorful camels, and dishes engraved with the Doha skyscrapers.

As night falls, the minaret of the Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center (Al-Fanar) mosque, which has a unique spiral design and can be seen from a distance, lights up the market sky. The scene is different in the morning, when workers are busy cleaning the empty streets.

In the market of pigeons and birds, chirping and shouting rises, while cages of various birds are displayed on a high table fenced with wooden partitions.

Men dominate the scene, most of them dressed in traditional dress, sipping coffee while chatting.

At 7 a.m. on Friday, an auction of birds begins, run by a bearded man in a white cloak, who says, "Eight cocktail pigeons, how many? 40 riyals... 50 riyals... 60? Eight 65 riyals."

"God willing, Doha will flourish with the arrival of foreigners, and business will move," said Mohammed bin Nasser, 75, a retired Qatari paramedic, who used to watch the auction as he does every week after the dawn prayer.

Qatar, which has spent tens of billions of dollars to host the World Cup, expects the revenues of the global event to reach $17 billion.

However, the gas-rich emirate seeks to attract six million tourists annually, starting from 2030, according to the Qatar Tourism Strategy 2030.

Camilla Swart-Aris, a professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, says the World Cup "creates a solid foundation for the government in its strategy to attract more visitors by 2030."

"Qatar can certainly seize this opportunity to position itself as a family-friendly tourism destination," adds the sports tourism expert.

A few weeks before the kick-off, the flags of the qualified teams were raised in the center of Doha and huge pictures of world-class players were plastered on the facades of skyscrapers.

Compared to what is usually the case in other countries that have hosted the World Cup , the atmosphere may seem less enthusiastic in Qatar, given that the emirate does not have a long history in football. However, this does not mean that everyone is eagerly awaiting the starting whistle.
On the seaside promenade, where the countdown clock for the event was installed, fans residing in the country, the vast majority of whom are foreigners from Bangladesh, India, East Asian countries and Africa, flock to take pictures.
Anwar Sadath, 56, an Indian who lives in Qatar and is a fan of the Argentine national team, says in Spanish, "Come on, Argentina." And he adds in English, "I admire Messi. I have a ticket to watch one match, which is the Argentina match against Saudi Arabia."
Paul Green (57 years), an American who moved to Qatar a few months ago, confirms that he prefers American football, but "I'm really happy to watch at least some matches... I think it's good to watch them in a different part of the world."

The Kremlin warns against sending more weapons to Ukraine before meeting Biden and Schultz

Moscow - (AFP) - Russia warned Friday that sending new Western arms shipments to Ukraine would only "prolong" the conflict, ahead of a meeting in Washington between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"We note that the United States continues its policy aimed at increasing arms shipments to Ukraine," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

He added that the handovers "will not have a decisive impact on the outcome of the attack (in Ukraine), but it is clear that they will prolong this conflict and have unfortunate repercussions for the Ukrainian people."

"This places a huge burden on the economies of those countries and has a negative impact on the well-being of their citizens, including in Germany," the Russian presidential spokesman added.

Joe Biden will receive German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Washington on Friday, in what is considered an occasion to show unity in front of Moscow and Beijing.

According to the German Chancellor's spokesman, this meeting aims specifically to consult on developments in the conflict in Ukraine and the support that Kiev's allies can provide.

Western countries provide military support to Kiev to repel the Russian attack that began last year, and some, like Germany, provide advanced tanks.

Jordan signs a memorandum of understanding with a Turkish company to explore gold

Amman - (dpa) - The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed today, Sunday, a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish company (Solvest) to explore for gold in the Abu Khushiba area in the south of the country.

The Jordanian News Agency (Petra) quoted the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, as saying that the memorandum with the Turkish Solvist is for 14 months, which is the second with the company, and includes exploration and prospecting for gold in the Abu Khushiba Valley in the south of the Kingdom.

He added that it comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts to enhance the added value of the mining sector in the Kingdom to exploit strategic minerals, pointing out that the company will operate within an area of about 155 square kilometers.

He stressed the importance of the memorandum in expanding the exploitation of natural resources in the Kingdom's lands to supply the national economy with added value and create job opportunities for local communities, noting that the ministry had previously signed last April with Solvest Company a memorandum of understanding to explore copper in the Abu Khushiba area after its rehabilitation and taking Duly approved approvals, pointing out that the company is now committed to the work program specified in the memorandum of understanding.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has recently signed a number of memorandums of understanding for exploration and prospecting for mineral resources, focusing on manufacturing industries, as they add value to the national economy, expand job opportunities and improve the standard of living for local communities.

Spain Championship: Barcelona fails to reconcile its fans by falling to Cadiz

Barcelona (AFP) - Barcelona failed to reconcile its fans after the harsh elimination from the European League (Europa League) at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany, by falling again to its host Cadiz, 0-1, on Monday, at the end of the thirty-second stage of the Spanish League. Cadiz, with the goal of Lucas Perez (48), from the most important match for him, snatching the three points that raised his tally to 31 points and improved his position by two points from the relegation positions.

As for the Catalan club, with this first loss after seven league victories, it remained on its sixty points in second place in the standings and 15 points away from leaders Real Madrid, but with a postponed match in its sleeve. Barcelona did not take advantage of the fatal loss that Seville received against Real Madrid. Sunday 2-3 after he was ahead with two clean goals in order to move away from the runner-up, and thus stayed at the same distance from the Andalusian club and Atletico Madrid, the defending champion, who also won, as was the case of his neighbor Real, in the fatal time against Espanyol (2-1). He received a strong blow by his exit from the “Europa League” last week, losing 2-3 in the “Camp Nou” to Frankfurt in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the second European championship in terms of importance, in a match that witnessed controversy regarding the large German public presence at the expense of the home fans.

Barcelona started the match with a pressing attack, relying on the Dutchman Memphis Depay, the Frenchman Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres. Strong from outside the area, she climbed the goal (23), before Dembele penetrated with a single effort between Cadiz’s defense and hit a ground ball that Ledesma blocked in two waves (39). Her German Marc-Andre ter Stegen bounced back and Perez followed her into the net (48). Ledesma then shone in blocking a missile shot from Dembele (68), amid the loss of Barcelona players. Xavi tried to return to the match through a number of substitutions, including the introduction of his Gabonese attackers Pierre- Emeric Aubameyang and Dutchman Luuk de Young, but to no avail.

The American mediator will send a final version of the proposal to demarcate the maritime borders with Israel

BEIRUT - (Xinhua) - The Information Office of the Lebanese Presidency announced, Sunday evening, that the American mediator in the indirect negotiations to demarcate the maritime borders between Lebanon and Israel , Amos Hochstein, will send within hours a copy containing a final version of the proposal related to the demarcation of the maritime borders.

The office said in a statement, "The Lebanese side will study the final formula carefully, in preparation for taking the appropriate decision."

The statement stated that Aoun received a phone call from Hochstein, "during which he was briefed on the results of the recent rounds of contacts with the Lebanese side on the one hand, and the Israeli side on the other, during which the observations submitted by the two parties were studied."

He added, "Hockstein made it clear that the discussion rounds have concluded, and the notes that he will send during the next few hours have been determined in a copy that includes the final version of the proposal related to the demarcation of the southern maritime borders."

An Israeli rejection of the amendments and observations submitted by Lebanon last (Monday) on Hochstein's proposal to demarcate the maritime borders put an end to a stage of optimism in reaching an agreement and opened the door to several possibilities and repercussions.

Lebanon's observations on the border demarcation proposal, according to the Lebanese presidency, came earlier to "guarantee Lebanon's rights to explore for oil and natural gas," and "the observations prevent any interpretations that do not apply to the framework set by Lebanon for the demarcation process during the negotiations."

In turn, the official "Israeli Broadcasting Corporation" had said last Thursday that Prime Minister Yair Lapid rejects Lebanon's observations on the text of the draft agreement presented by the American mediator last week.

During the past months, Hochstein conducted shuttle rounds between Lebanon and Israel to reach a settlement over their dispute over a maritime border area in the Mediterranean waters, which is believed to contain quantities of gas and oil.

It is noteworthy that the negotiations on the demarcation of the maritime borders between Lebanon and Israel were launched in 2020 under the auspices of the United Nations and with American mediation, and then stopped in May 2021 due to differences over the size of the disputed area.

What are the goals of Biden's visit to the Middle East?

Washington - "Jerusalem" dot com - Saeed Erekat - The Wall Street Journal reported, in a report published today, Wednesday, that US President Joe Biden 's visit to the Middle East aims primarily to deepen US-Israeli security relations, and the visit will focus on "integrating" Israel into the region by expanding its relations with more Arab countries.

The visit aims, according to the American newspaper, to deepen the "Abraham Accords" of normalization, to include important countries in the region such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which shares Israel's fears of Iran.

It is noteworthy that US President Joe Biden had expressed these priorities, first in his statement after the end of the G-7 summit on June 30, and secondly in his lengthy article published in the "Washington Post" newspaper last Sunday.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, Israel has been in closer relations than ever before with Arab countries in a joint effort to contain Iran's threats. In Bahrain, an Israeli naval officer is working with Bahraini and American officials to confront Iran's military ambitions, while Israeli soldiers in Morocco recently participated in an The largest regular military maneuver of the United States in Africa, while the Israeli Navy conducted maneuvers in the Red Sea with the participation of naval forces from several Arab countries.

It is noteworthy that Israeli military officials had met with their counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates together at the headquarters of the US Central Command in the Middle East last month in an effort to develop a new air defense agreement to protect Israel and the countries of the Persian Gulf from threats posed by Iran and its allies.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters Tuesday that Biden will seek to increase Israel's integration into the region during the trip and coordinate on confronting the Iranian threat.

Jonathan Schanzer, Senior Vice President for Research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a front for the Israeli lobby, which was established by the Israeli military establishment at the beginning of the current century in Washington, and specializes in advancing Israeli agendas in Palestinian , Syrian and Iranian affairs, told the newspaper, saying that the visit will constitutes a "new chapter in the security of the Middle East".

"The key now is for these actors to institutionalize these gains," he added.

The newspaper notes that while the Biden administration is trying to bring Israel and its Arab neighbors together in a regional air defense partnership aimed primarily at protecting countries from the threats of Iran and its allies, efforts to do so have been hampered by the tense relationship between the Biden administration and the Kingdom due to Saudi Arabia's resistance to US pressure. In changing course on key issues, including oil production and human rights.

The newspaper claims that Israel has offered to provide direct assistance to the UAE, which faced a series of missile strikes from Houthi-backed militias in Yemen earlier this year.

However, experts believe that building an integrated air defense system that extends from Israel to the United Arab Emirates is difficult due to the different interests and agendas of the countries concerned, as so far neither Saudi Arabia nor Qatar officially recognizes Israel, and they do not have the public relations required to achieve this yet.

Earlier this month, Tehran announced that cooperation in the field of air defense between Arab countries and Israel would destabilize, according to Nasser Kanani, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, who said in a press statement that "an attempt to create new security concerns in the region will not be It has nothing but to weaken common regional security and serve the security interests of the Zionist regime."

Experts in Washington claim that "the shift towards more cooperation with Israel stems in part from concerns about the US' willingness to intervene militarily in the region, especially after its sudden withdrawal from Afghanistan and Biden's stated desire to direct US security resources toward China."

The Wall Street Journal attributes to Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz saying last week that since the signing of the "Abraham Accords," defense officials between Israel and the printing states in the Gulf have held 150 meetings with each other.

Gantz said that Israel has sold more than $3 billion in weapons to the Gulf states. In 2021, 7% of military sales to Israel went to “Abraham Accords countries,” according to the Defense Ministry.

Gantz noted that cooperation with the United States and some regional neighbors is already under way. He said recently: "This plan is already underway and has already thwarted Iranian attempts to challenge Israel and other countries in the Middle East."

According to the investigation, Israel is also looking forward to integrating its cyber defenses with its new allies, and according to an Israeli official, cyber officials in Israel have met dozens of times with their Emirati counterparts since the signing of the Abraham Accords, who said that the two countries "exchange intelligence information, potential threats to each other, and the lessons they learned while dealing." with cyber threats.

In a few cases, the Israeli official claims, "Israeli and Emirati officials found threats that the other was not aware of. In one incident in 2021, a civilian Israeli company discovered a cyberattack originating from an agent of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, which hacked into servers around the world. Including Israel and the United States.

Last year, Israel signed a cybersecurity agreement with Morocco.

The yield curve of US bonds indicates investors' fears about a recession

WASHINGTON (Xinhua) -- The US government bond market is sending out fresh signals that investors are "increasingly convinced" of a recession due to the Federal Reserve's hawkish anti-inflationary moves, Reuters news agency reported.

The agency reported that the shape of the yield curve was seen as an indicator of the future state of the economy, as curve inversions were a "reliable sign of an impending recession."

"The curves are flattening and some are negative. They all end up telling you the same thing," the agency quoted Eric Theoret, global macro strategist at Manulife Investment Management, as saying.

The report said a flat curve could indicate expectations of a near-term interest rate hike and a weaker economic outlook.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve imposed another 75 basis point rate hike, the largest consecutive rate hike in decades, in an effort to rein in rampant inflation. It has already raised interest rates by 225 basis points since March.

The virtue of the last ten days of Ramadan
