Hebrew newspaper: The end of the wave of attacks from the West Bank without a clear horizon

Translation by "Jerusalem" dot com - The Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom said, on Wednesday, that the wave of continuous attacks from the West Bank , especially Nablus, does not seem to end soon, despite its decline in the last week as a result of the Israeli army's operations that it is carrying out deep in the Palestinian territories and in broad daylight. .

The newspaper says that despite this understanding of the Israeli army, the truth is that "Israel is facing the peak of a wave of terrorism, the end of which does not appear at this moment with any clear horizon."

And the newspaper adds in a report by its military correspondent, Lillach Shoval: "In the security apparatus, they are currently consoling themselves that terrorism does not include all cities in the West Bank and is concentrated only in its north, especially Jenin, where the Palestinian Authority has completely lost control."

She points out that the Palestinian Authority began to show greater effectiveness in Nablus after the United States put pressure on it, while the south of the West Bank is the least active, because the Authority effectively controls the field.

And she considered that the Palestinian casualties, which have reached 100 since the beginning of the year, which is the largest number since 2015, increases the desire for revenge among the Palestinians, and every successful operation will lead to additional operations with its inspiration, and therefore it is not possible to say with certainty the possibility of success in breaking the currently emerging circle.

She drew attention to the talk about the possibility of carrying out Operation Defensive Wall 2, which the security services and the Israeli army, which does not want to stay for a long time in the Palestinian Authority areas, exclude, while some are calling for tightening measures against the Palestinians through closures, imposing a security cordon, withdrawing work permits, and others, with the aim of Putting pressure on the population there, while the Israeli political left is pushing for the political process, but it is an illogical option in light of the current reality. As Shoval says in her report.

It indicates that Israel, on the eve of the elections, takes measures, including flooding the field with its forces, arresting potential perpetrators of operations based on intelligence information, and pressuring the authority to work more, while the security establishment hopes that the perpetrators of the operation will despair at this stage on their own, so they hide the wave of attacks alone, as it was in years. precedent.

"Mothers of Martyrs" Makers of Patience and Revolution

Written by: Dr. Hani Al-Akkad

The Palestinian mother is great and her greatness is that she educates her children on the love of the homeland and devotion for its honor and dignity and martyrdom for its freedom. Yes, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa. Like other mothers, she worries if one of them is absent for a long time. The occupation does not leave a Palestinian without arrest or execution, and often arrests him and releases him, and after a while he executes him. The Palestinian mother took up the gun a few days after her labor to protect her children and defend her home. Today, the Palestinian mother is a fighter guerrilla Patience and revolution are made as the real supplies to continue the struggle for liberation and independence.

Difficult for the Palestinian mother and almost unacceptable if her son was martyred. Weeping, wailing and wailing. It is difficult for all the mothers of Palestinian martyrs to mourn or to show that they are broken and sad for the loss of their sons and their departure as martyrs. Confirmation of staying on the covenant of the martyrs that no one throws a gun so that the confrontation with this brutal occupier continues. Their pride in their children as martyrs is something that baffled psychologists, strategic experts, and scholars of research into the nature of man and methods of psychological warfare. They did not imagine how a mother would lose her young son, mourn him as a martyr, and send him to his funeral on her shoulders like men. With a mastermind, something that may be a revolutionary myth, but it is a reality that happens every day in the West Bank and with the rise of every martyr.

It is not a phenomenon that may be repeated in the fields of struggle against the occupier anywhere in the world except in Palestine. The Palestinian mother is the mother of the martyr, the prisoner, and the wounded in many cases. Her home is demolished and her children and husband are arrested. She defies the occupation by building a new home and does not break down to continue patiently steadfast in her home, waiting for the freedom of her husband and children. Mothers often complete National roles are not in patience, but in strengthening all paths and forms of revolution and the daily struggle to defeat the occupation. The Palestinian mother weeps for her son while she smiles, her heads above all people, her head in the sky because her son is a martyr overcoming the occupier, and she, with her smile and pride, also defeats the occupier, who believes that the mother of the martyr will be broken at the separation of her son and grieve She may die out of grief for him. The Palestinian mother often receives her son’s gun after his martyrdom and hands it over to his companions in order to continue their struggle mission. She often shoots, vowing to his companions to continue the struggle and fight the occupier as long as he remains on the soil of Palestine. The mothers of the martyrs in this third intifada, as every intifada is a title of patience and revolution, protectors of the intifada to continue and intensify the confrontation with the occupier. Every day they celebrate the wedding of their martyr sons and receive them with their rifles decorated with their blood. .

Not only mothers, but sisters, wives and children, even the youngest of them. How many wives promised their martyr husband to continue on the path of raising their children as men who do not fear death and who do not know fear? How many sisters recommended to all the women who came to bid farewell to the martyr not to cry, but to say goodbye to him with revolutionary songs and ululations.

The newspapers often wrote and the reports of international and Arab satellite channels talked about the mothers of the martyrs and they conveyed the ceremonies of their reception and farewell to their martyr sons in scenes that only happen in Palestine and cannot happen in any place other than Palestine. The world knew that the Palestinian mother suffers, grieves, and cries like a mother, but her grief and crying remain imprisoned, and no one sees her except her smile, and no one hears except the words of satisfaction for her martyred son, and his last words about the love of the country and his commandments to men like him. Yes, she cries and suffers, but in her loneliness, her patience is signs and lessons for all women. The world, all those who came to congratulate her on the martyrdom of her son, chanted in a revolutionary voice, "I wish my mother would replace you, O mother of the martyr, your happiness." They make patience and revolution, and the revolution grows with their patience and patience.

Their pride in their martyr sons and their preservation of the era of the revolution and the pursuit of liberation prompted them to form a gathering of the mothers of the martyrs, the mothers of all the martyrs of the confrontations and commando operations and the martyrs of confronting the occupying forces storming the cities and villages in an image that is the pride of every Palestinian on the face of the earth. They all go to the martyr’s wedding house and they all sit with the martyr’s mother The whole council is made up of the mothers of the martyrs, so she hopes that one of her children would not be martyred. The gathering of the mothers of the Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank is the strongest revolutionary gathering that the revolution has known until today. It is not as a political party or a women’s faction, but it is an insistence on resistance and the overthrow of the occupation. Every day it grows as the crimes escalate. The occupation, and it is well known that the crimes of the occupation will not stop except with the ferocity of the resistance and the continuation of the revolution. This assembly greatly confuses the calculations of the occupier to prove to him time after time that every army force and every weapon of his military establishment will not break the steadfastness and pride of the mothers of the martyrs who make patience and strengthen the revolution only by believing that their children are nothing but the For the freedom, dignity and pride of this country, the overthrow of the occupation and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Attackers kill 4 policemen in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during a demonstration

Beni, (AFP) - Four policemen were killed Friday at an important commercial crossroads in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC ) during a demonstration against insecurity, a military source told AFP.

Colonel Mozibo i Pap told AFP that during the demonstration, armed men emerged from the crowd near the Kangute district of Butembo (North Kivu in the east) and fired at the police who were accompanying the demonstrators.

While he was hearing gunfire throughout the city, the colonel, whose men came to support the police, said, "The initial outcome indicates that 4 policemen were killed by those attackers who were among the demonstrators, and 3 four-wheel drive vehicles were burned."

For its part, the "Security Barometer in Kivu" program, which has experts in this city, stated that "the security forces have been under attack since the morning in Butembo. At least two policemen were killed, including the deputy (police) commander."

"The situation is dangerous at the moment. It seems that an armed group whose origin we don't know is invading Butembo from the Kangute region," Mathi Senan, head of civil society in Butembo, told AFP.

Four peacekeepers were killed in Butembo on July 26 during demonstrations against the United Nations.

The situation has been tense in Butembo since the beginning of the week.

Two policemen were killed Wednesday in an attack on the Butembo prison by members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which Islamic State says is its Central African branch.

The ADF is accused of killing thousands of civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and of launching jihadist attacks in neighboring Uganda.

Since the end of November 2021, the Congolese and Ugandan armies have been carrying out joint operations in an attempt to eliminate the Allied Democratic Forces, but they have so far failed to put an end to the massacres and violence.

Youth: between occupation and independence

Written by: Dr. Dalal Saeb Erekat

Yesterday, a conference was held on the national framework for UN Resolution 2250, and the reality of Palestinian youth under occupation was addressed.

The conference was organized by the Union of Young Women's Christian Associations in Palestine, YWCA Palestine, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Organization and other partner institutions.

Before talking about the reality of Palestinian youth, there is a set of international agreements and covenants that emphasize the importance of the role of youth around the world, including:

- International Youth Day, which came with a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly 12/8/1999. The twelfth of August every year reminds us that youth are essential partners in change, and the need to raise awareness and shed light on the challenges and problems facing young people all over the world. The general goal approved by the United Nations on this occasion is the importance of improving and developing youth participation and work at the local, national and global levels, as well as drawing lessons and lessons to enhance their representation and participation in various social, economic and political issues.

- Security Council Resolution 2250 of 2015. An international resolution on youth, peace and security.

The resolution recognizes the positive and important role youth play in maintaining and promoting international peace and security. It calls for strengthening the responsibility of youth in decision-making at the local, national, regional and international levels and considering the establishment of mechanisms that would enable youth to participate meaningfully in peace processes, with a primary focus on five main pillars: participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and disengagement and reintegration.

- The Global Program of Action, developed by the United Nations in 1995, includes general directives for taking the necessary actions and measures at the national level to improve the conditions of youth, and focuses on the importance of promoting development opportunities that maximize the presence of youth at all levels of social and political participation.

- National plans for the European Charter on Youth Participation in Domestic Life, which demanded that young people have the right to social, legal and economic protection, and their right to provide training and empowerment and protect them from exploitation and violence, and promote their political participation.

- All of the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the fourth, including a focus on quality, comprehensive and quality education for the year 2030.

On the Palestinian national level, we have many charters that emphasize the importance of the role of youth, including:

The national agenda and policies according to the requirements of Resolution 2250 of 2015

The agendas 2017-2020 and 2021-2023 emphasized the importance of enhancing youth participation in decision-making levels, integrating them into public policy-making, and involving them in maintaining peace and security.

- The amended Palestinian Basic Law of 2003, and the Declaration of Independence 1988, which we celebrate on 11/15 every year, constitute an important reference for the local legal framework through which official and civil institutions worked to build their interventions in the youth sector, based on the assertion that the Basic Law guaranteed a set of rights rights enjoyed by the citizen and thus implicitly included the youth category, including civil, political, health, social, cultural, educational, housing and work rights.

The national agenda departs from the government and stresses, without exception, the importance of developing sectors to provide quality services to young people, and to create the necessary jobs in the labor market, to achieve their aspirations and desires, and to enhance their integration and political participation, in implementation of Security Resolution 2250. General Policy No. 21 also came, explicitly on the importance of empowering Youth, through the government's commitment as one of the main employers in Palestine, and the government's pledge to sponsor and support entrepreneurial projects for youth, and to enhance their participation in public life, which reflects what was stated in the decision on the need to include youth groups in sectoral plans. The National Strategic Plan for Youth in its versions 2017-2020 and 2021-2023 included the importance of community participation, and activating the levels of political and civic participation of youth groups. It is worth noting that the national policy agendas do not rise to the level of strategic plans, as they include goals without performance measurement tools, without review, without evaluation, and this is what Makes goals like dreams.

The year 2020, Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, announced that it will be the year of youth. In fact, Palestinian youth represent a fifth of Palestinian society, or 22% of the total population, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, which defines young people as being between the ages of (18-29) years. Although 68% of the Palestinian people are under 30 years old, and the percentage of youth in Palestine is high, youth reflects a state of political marginalization, unemployment and lack of integration. If we look at decision-making positions, we see, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, that youth representation does not exceed 1% in decision-making positions. Young people are completely absent and marginalized in decision-making positions, especially in the formation of governments, PLO committees, senior positions in the factions and governorates, and diplomatic representation.

Observers of Palestinian affairs are fully aware of the deterioration of the political situation at various levels, the most important of which is the internal division and open and free Arab normalization without coordination with the Palestinians! He is aware of the danger of settlers and the facts on the ground regarding Jerusalem, settlements, refugees, annexation plans, land confiscation, increasing racist policies, forced displacement of indigenous people, and field executions among young people in particular. He is aware of the departure of the Palestinian cause from the list of priorities for countries near and far.

The occupation is the first and last obstacle in the life of any Palestinian, and the statistics indicate that the occupation is targeting the youth group intensively, whether in field executions in captivity, in persecution or racist policies, in light of the targeting of youth by the occupation, we must rearrange our internal home and elevate this category to reflect the role of and youth rights.
Observers are aware of the need of the Palestinian leadership today to renew its legitimacy through democratic means, and in the absence of elections, there must be a political will to integrate youth, just as women are in appointments. At the national and legislative levels, the percentage of youth representation is almost non-existent. It is necessary to raise awareness about Security Council Resolution No. 2250, which strengthens the role of youth, and establish mechanisms that help youth lead and support. The dream of youth participation in the Palestinian political system will not be achieved without a political decision that will be reflected in the representation of 68% of the society, and this can be translated into a special quota for youth, similar to women, even in a temporary transitional manner, or in the absence of elections. A political decision must be made to integrate youth in appointments at different levels. .

We hope that the message reaches deaf ears and is reflected in decision-making.

Palestinian wrestler Rabie Khalil proves his abilities in the German Wrestling League and continues his victories

Jerusalem - Pal Sport Agency / Palestinian wrestling champion Rabih Khalia, who resides in Germany, continues to record victories and win successively, in the German tournament between Lunen Club, which he plays for, and Herdecke Club on Lunen land.

The audience in this confrontation was larger in number because everyone knows that whoever wins in this confrontation occupies the first place in this role, and we as ten players in different weights were aware of the seriousness of this confrontation. And Lunen Club shaped the strategy of players at the appropriate weights so that we could defeat Herdecke Club.

Rabie says: I had to wrestle against a player named Sadiq, but I do not know his nationality, and this player was so violent that throughout the confrontation, the referee warned him several times not to hold fingers and hit his head on my head, and to stop arguing with the referee because all these things are prohibited in the wrestling game , and I won it with the result of the points difference that I got. Unfortunately, he hit me again with his head on my head, and the referee paid attention to this act, and his reaction was to expel the player, Sadiq Bakrt Ahmar, from the wrestling mat. And this player would have caused a dispute between the two rival clubs because of this unnecessary act that he committed, especially since he caused the loss of 5 points that I got after the expulsion, and if he had controlled his nerves, I would have got only 3 points.

After the spirits calmed down, the game continued, and my colleagues collected points after another, and we won this confrontation with a score of 15-28 in favor of Lunen Club.

Club members, coaches and the team are very happy with this result and the victory in this way, because we showed ourselves and the competitors how strong and cohesive Lunen Club is, and we deserve to be ranked first.

Rabih adds: I am very satisfied with this club, the management and the coaches are satisfied with my performance and I am very understanding with my colleagues, most of whom are from different countries and national team players in Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey and of course me as a Palestinian.

He concluded his speech to the PAL Sport Network and Agency, saying: From my point of view, the club knew how to bring us professionals in the wrestling game together with one team in order to achieve the goal of Lunen Club, which is to obtain the title of West German Club Champion, and not only in order to obtain our salaries and material rewards.

Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - 30 administrative detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons continue, for the nineteenth day in a row, to engage in an open hunger strike, in protest against the policy of administrative detention against them.

5 days ago, 20 prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons joined them for the same strike.

The detainees, who are cadres, members and supporters of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, demand an end to administrative detention.

The Front in Prisons organization indicated that the occupation tried to pounce on this step by communicating with some administrative detainees in order to make an offer to them, but they clung to their position, which calls for ending the administrative detention against them.

According to the organization's statement, more detainees will join their comrades in batches until their demands are met.

Kushner claims that Friedman conspired with Netanyahu behind Trump's back

Washington - "Jerusalem" dot com - Saeed Erekat - In his new book, "Breaking History: White House Memoirs," Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump , and his first adviser in the White House, who gave him the responsibility of liquidating the Palestinian cause, claims that at the beginning of 2020 David Friedman, then US ambassador to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , promised that the Trump administration would quickly support Israel in annexing parts of the occupied West Bank, without informing the White House.

According to the American Axios website, a major crisis erupted over Netanyahu's sudden announcement of the annexation of vast occupied lands, which was considered a watershed moment in the relationship between former President Trump and Netanyahu, and also created a major conflict in terms of domestic politics within Trump's inner circle.

It is noteworthy that bankruptcy lawyer David Friedman, who became Trump's ambassador to Israel, and now resides in a settlement in the occupied West Bank, during the past year, denied such accounts published in the American and Israeli media, and according to the book of Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, "Peace Trump", that He may have acted on the Israeli annexation plans behind the back of the White House, and Kushner refutes it in his new book, which will be published on the market on August 23.

It is noteworthy that Trump, in a speech he delivered on January 28, 2020, announced the " deal of the century ", his plan to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in which he (Trump) also announced that the United States would support Israel in annexing areas of the West Bank as part of the implementation of the plan, without specifying a period. time for that.

It is noteworthy that Friedman said, in response to journalists' questions at the White House, immediately after the end of the unveiling ceremony of the "deal of the century", that "Israel can begin annexation plans immediately." Shortly after that, Netanyahu announced that he would pass a decision in his government regarding annexation within five days.

Kushner claims in his book, parts of which were published in the United States, in the context of promoting the book that he (Kushner) and Trump were surprised by Netanyahu's announcement, just as they were surprised by what Friedman told reporters, which prompted Trump and Kushner to state that the annexation could not happen immediately.

According to Axios, Kushner describes how it happened in his book: “As it turned out, Friedman assured Bibi (Netanyahu) that he would persuade the White House to support annexation immediately. He did not convey it to me (Kushner) or to anyone on my team.”

Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser adds that he confronted Friedman, who then claims to have presented Trump's plan accurately. In the world. You know that's not what we agreed on."

According to Axios, Friedman eventually agreed to withdraw his earlier statement and tell Netanyahu that he could not move forward with annexation.

According to Axios, Kushner says that "behind the scenes, our relationship with the Israeli government was at its lowest point yet, and I felt like I was trying to push the Israelis forward and build partnerships with the wider world while they were stuck in domestic politics."

It is noteworthy that in his book, "The Hammer", Friedman downplayed the importance of the efforts he made with Netanyahu to press for a quick annexation step and said that everything he did was in coordination with Kushner, and portrayed what happened as a misunderstanding between him and Kushner, Netanyahu and the Israeli prime minister's advisors.

The site says that Friedman told Axios this week that he sticks to his memory of the events as stated in his memoirs, saying, "Jared (Kushner) had a misunderstanding about the timing of the sovereignty deal (the annexation of large parts of the occupied West Bank) with Israel and not its substance. We had some heated discussions that It fit the pressures of the moment. But in the end, we resolved our differences in a way that best served the interests of the United States and Israel."

"Discussions were fruitful on a new agreement under the Extended Fund Facility to support the authorities' economic policies and reforms," the statement quoted mission chief Bjorn Rutter as saying.

He added that IMF staff and Tunisian officials "will continue discussions over the coming weeks with the aim of reaching an agreement at the expert level."

"As always, final agreement on a new programmatic arrangement will be subject to approval by the Fund's Executive Board," said Piotr.

The statement also affirmed that Tunisia "is making significant progress in its economic agenda, taking into account good coordination between ministries and agencies on the basis of a sound common vision. It is now necessary to accelerate the pace of its implementation."

Negotiations between Tunisia and the IMF focus on the reform program proposed by the government headed by Naglaa Boudin. The fund stipulates that the loan be accompanied by the implementation of radical reforms.

Experts estimate that the loan amount is about two billion euros.

Tunisia requested this loan to help it deal with an acute financial crisis that worsened after President Kais Saied monopolized the executive and legislative powers in July 2021.

The government proposed to the International Monetary Fund a reform plan that provides for freezing the salaries of public sector employees, reducing subsidies for basic commodities, and restructuring public companies.

However, the Tunisian General Labor Union rejected the government reform plan demanded by the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF had referred to the "major structural challenges" facing Tunisia in light of "deep macroeconomic imbalances, very weak growth despite its strong potential, a very high unemployment rate, very weak investment, and social inequalities."

Added to these major difficulties was the impact of the war in Ukraine, which caused an increase in the prices of agricultural products. Ukraine and Russia are traditionally the main suppliers of wheat to the Maghreb countries.

In its statement issued on Tuesday, the IMF confirmed that the repercussions of the invasion of Ukraine and the Covid pandemic “constitute pressures that increase the basic structural weaknesses” that the Tunisian economy suffers from.

The statement warned of "challenges surrounding the near-term prospects, as growth is likely to slow while rising international prices for energy and food lead to an increase in already high inflation and an increase in the fiscal and external deficit, as well as debt."

The statement stressed the need to "take urgent measures in order to reduce these imbalances in a socially sustainable manner."

As for the IMF, "broad support will be necessary to accomplish the urgent task of reducing macroeconomic imbalances, promoting stability and supporting job-creating growth, which is a prerequisite for activating the enormous potential of the Tunisian economy in the interest of all citizens."

In its statement, the Fund appealed to "the international community to play an important role in facilitating the authorities' program by expediting the disbursement of the required funding," stressing that "this is indispensable to ensure the success of the authorities' efforts in terms of policies and reforms."

The Lebanese army receives the first payments of a Qatari financial donation

BEIRUT - (Xinhua) - The Lebanese Army Command announced today (Friday) the receipt of the first batch of a financial donation of $60 million, provided by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as a contribution to support the salaries of army personnel.

And the leadership said in a statement that he "received the first batch of the Qatari financial donation and began distributing it equally to all the military," without details.

The Armed Forces Commander, General Joseph Aoun, expressed, according to the statement, his thanks to Qatar for this initiative and praised its support for Lebanon and its army "in light of the challenges it faces as a result of the repercussions of the deteriorating economic situation."

Last June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced a financial contribution of $60 million to support the Lebanese army, just as Qatar announced in July 2021 that it would provide 70 tons of monthly food aid to the Lebanese army for a year.

The Lebanese army commander had warned in June 2021 during an international conference to support the army, which was held at the invitation of France, the United Nations and Italy, against the collapse of institutions, including the military, in the event of the continued deterioration of the economic and financial situation in the country.

The army commander requested assistance by providing the army with spare parts for its equipment, providing food and in-kind aid, and supporting the military health care system.

In the past months, the Lebanese army has received financial assistance from Germany, aid, medical equipment and foodstuffs from the Egyptian armed forces, Morocco, Jordan, the Sultanate of Oman, Turkey, Spain, Greece and Serbia.

Since the end of 2009, Lebanon has been witnessing a severe financial and economic crisis, which the World Bank classified as one of the worst crises in the world since the middle of the last century.

Lebanon suffers from political, economic, living and health crises, which were embodied in the government's failure to pay foreign and internal debts, the scarcity of foreign currency and the collapse of the value of the Lebanese pound, amid banks imposing harsh restrictions on deposit withdrawals.
The repercussions of the interlocking crises led to a rise in the poverty rate in the country to 82%, an increase in unemployment, inflation, and a shortage of fuel, medicines and infant formula.

Respect for the legacy of Yasser Arafat.. Is it just a slogan or a practice and an application?

Written by: Attorney Ziyad Abu Ziyad

Two days ago, the Palestinian people commemorated the death of the martyr leader, Yasser Arafat. And I noticed that most, if not all, of those who preached or wrote used the term “Yasser Arafat’s legacy” in their speeches and writings, meaning Yasser Arafat’s Legacy. Whether or not we have indeed preserved this legacy...

I will not dwell on the legacy of Yasser Arafat, but I will stop at some stations to verify what I am about.

I begin by pointing out that Yasser Arafat began his life as a revolutionary fighter, whether with the Egyptian fedayeen fighting against the British in the Suez Canal area, or as one of the founders of the Fatah movement and the pioneer of the Palestinian resistance who did not give up his gun nor his will to fight until the last day of his life. Thus, we must start by saying that the backbone of Yasser Arafat's legacy is the resistance in its various forms. Are we keeping this legacy? ‏

When Yasser Arafat entered the Oslo track, he was insisting on the unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. I remember before he came to the homeland that I was at the Palestinian embassy in Amman, waiting for his arrival. When he arrived and I was in the entrance with the late Tayeb Abd al-Rahim, Abu Ammar grabbed my hand and took me to a side room at the entrance. We were alone and he told me: Gaza, Jericho. The focus should be on the connection between Gaza and Jericho. No talk except about Gaza Jericho. Then we went out...
On several subsequent occasions, Abu Ammar would repeat that he had accepted the start of the operation with a small area in the West Bank, but linked to its twin in the Gaza Strip, to emphasize the unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Indeed, when the talk was later about the redeployment in the Gaza Strip, Abu Ammar demanded that the redeployment in the Gaza Strip be linked to a similar redeployment in some villages of Jenin, in order to confirm the organic connection between the West Bank and the Strip. So have we preserved this heritage and adhered to the unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, or have we failed at the first exam only four years after his departure, in June 2007?
Yasser Arafat was haunted by the dream of a state, and when he entered into negotiations, the Israelis insisted that there be a self-rule council to be elected and composed of twenty-five people, and that it would be the government and the authority authorized to issue legislation that is subject to Israeli oversight and does not contradict with Israeli military orders. Yasser Arafat insisted on rejecting that proposal and demanded the separation of the executive and legislative powers and that there be an elected parliament separate from the government. ‏
And he continued to struggle and argue with Yitzhak Rabin, and on one of the stormy nights in Taba he was able to extract from him an acceptance of the separation of the two powers, then he kept arguing and insisting on increasing the number above twenty-five members until he reached eighty-eight under the pretext that this is the total number of West Bank representatives in parliament Jordanian, in addition to the number of members of the Legislative Council that was present in the Gaza Strip during the era of the Egyptian military rule. Arafat used to tell us about those bitter negotiations to conclude that he did so because he wanted to establish a state and that the state can only be established with three powers: legislative, judicial and executive, while respecting the principle of separation of powers. This was culminated in the election of the first Legislative Council in January 1996, which later proved that he grew up on the ropes and did not abide by the Oslo Accords and did not accept any restrictions on his legislative powers and did not pay any attention to the military orders that the occupation legislated before the establishment of the Authority, but rather canceled many of them De facto. ‏
This is the legacy of Yasser Arafat. Establishment of a state. Establish the presence of three authorities. Applying the principle of separation of powers, respecting the independence of the judiciary. So where are we today? Have we respected and preserved the legacy of Yasser Arafat, or has the legislative authority been abolished and its powers given to the executive authority, opening the door wide for the executive authority to interfere in the affairs of the judiciary, to find the state’s dream losing its basic components and being managed through one authority, not three authorities? Is this the legacy of Arafat?
Arafat was the leader with whom some of those around him might disagree, but they did not disagree with him because he was the common denominator among all and because he was the father of all and the vessel and incubator that contained everyone, and each one found himself within and in its shadow. Is this leadership legacy still governing the relationship between the leaders and cadres of Fatah, and between it and the leaders and cadres of other factions? The answer I leave to the astute reader
These are some examples of Yasser Arafat's legacy, which is one of the elements that made him the leader, the immortal symbol. ‏
I listened with interest to the speech that President Mahmoud Abbas addressed to the masses who gathered in Al-Katiba Square in Gaza to commemorate the late martyr. President Abbas emphasized two things, which are the core of what must be done. The first is the inviolability of division. "Division is forbidden," he said. Then he added that he was ready to pay any price to end the division and restore the geographical, political and administrative unity between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and this is exactly one of the main pillars of Yasser Arafat's legacy.

Preserving the legacy of Yasser Arafat requires working according to this heritage and not enriching it by chanting glamorous slogans devoid of any content.

Let us hope that this occasion will be the starting point towards respecting the legacy of Yasser Arafat by respecting the unity between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and ending the division and returning to the bosom of Palestinian patriotism. Eliminate and stop the absurd situation and the massacre to which it is exposed. ‏

And let Arafat's legacy be respected by returning to the law of love and fraternity of struggle by restoring unity and harmony and achieving reconciliation within the Fatah House similar to achieving reconciliation and restoring harmony and joint action between the various colors of the Palestinian political spectrum, foremost among which is the Hamas movement. ‏

Let us hope, despite the great despair that frustrates us, that there are still those who respect the legacy of Yasser Arafat in deed, not in words, and that we will not be among those whom God described in His saying in Surah Al-Saff, verse 3: Do you do.”

Al-Sisi issues an amnesty for more than 3,000 prisoners

Cairo - "Al Quds" dot com - (AFP) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has pardoned a journalist who was imprisoned for "spreading false news" and more than 3,000 prisoners, local media and officials reported Wednesday.

Prominent left-wing activist Hossam Moanes was sentenced to four years in prison in November for a charge usually leveled against dissidents in Egypt.

Local media reported the issuance of the amnesty decision for Moanes on Wednesday, while a tweet launched by lawyer Tariq Al-Awadi, a member of the Presidential Pardon Committee, stated, "Congratulations for pardoning Hossam Moanes."

Later, the Ministry of Interior announced in a statement that 3,273 prisoners convicted of criminal cases had received a presidential pardon.

Moanes was arrested in 2019, along with a number of opponents, while preparing to run in the 2020 legislative elections within the "Coalition of Hope."

An emergency court sentenced Mo'nis, along with five others, including former MP Ziyad Al-Alimi, a prominent figure in the 2011 revolution who is still in prison, to prison terms ranging from three to five years.

Amnesty International had condemned the judicial rulings, denouncing "a series of human rights violations, including arbitrary arrest and detention, enforced disappearance, torture and intimidation."

"These politicians and activists should not have been arrested in the first place, and yet they were convicted and sentenced to prison on charges related to their legitimate criticism of the Egyptian authorities," she added.

The amnesty of Moanes came a few days after an order to release 41 persons held in pretrial detention, including Hassan Muhammad Barbari, an activist in the "Coalition of Hope".

Since Sisi assumed the presidency in 2013, human rights organizations have denounced Egypt's "catastrophic" human rights record.

In September, Sisi presented the National Strategy for Human Rights, emphasizing that education, health, and electricity are more important rights than the right to assembly, which is almost completely banned in the country.

Egypt will host the COP27 Climate Conference in November.

International human rights organizations criticized Egypt's decision to host the climate summit on the grounds of human rights violations.

In November, Human Rights Watch said Egypt was hosting the event "in order to whitewash its appalling record of human rights violations."

A female tiger escaped four days ago was killed from a farm in South Africa

Johannesburg - (AFP) - A tiger fleeing four days ago from a farm near Johannesburg, South Africa, was killed at dawn on Wednesday, after a new attack targeting a dog inside an inhabited farm.

"We had no choice but to get rid of her," Mandy Grisham, a resident of the area, told AFP, "because it had killed a dog on a farm where six families live" and "has become very dangerous."

Sheba, an 8-year-old female Bengal tiger, attacked a 39-year-old man who managed to survive, killing dogs and a deer. A search was launched for her, which was undertaken by dozens of police officers, environmental advocates and residents of the region, supported by a drone and helicopter.

On Saturday, the female tiger succeeded in getting out of her cage after an unknown person cut the fence of the farm, which is about thirty kilometers from the economic capital of South Africa, in the country's most populous province.
And she was spotted on Monday near the farm, to which she returned in search of meat to eat.

"It is very dangerous and irresponsible to keep these animals in a residential area," the South African Society for the Protection of Animals said.
The breeding of tigers, an endangered animal, has increased in South Africa in recent years.
South Africa lacks an official census on the number of tigers in it. Four Paws, an animal rights NGO, notes that between 2011 and 2020, 10% of the global population (359 tigers) were exported from South Africa.

A crushing blow from Barcelona to Chelsea in the Conde deal

Spanish club Barcelona revived its hopes of winning the Frenchman Jules Conde , Seville defender, during the current summer transfer period.

And the Catalan newspaper "Sport" revealed that Barcelona officials threw a new card from the team's camp in Las Vegas, making Conde's accession imminent.

She explained that Chelsea offered 65 million euros to buy the French defender in installments, while the Catalan club made an offer of a smaller amount, but it would pay it in one payment.

She pointed out that the Seville administration is more inclined to offer Barcelona, desiring to obtain a large financial payment.

And she continued, “There will be no problem for Conde, because he always gave priority to Barcelona, even though he was informed earlier that he was on his way to Chelsea.”

"Sport" concluded its report that the time difference between the United States of America and Spain (9 hours) disrupts communication between officials of the two clubs, and that the Barcelona administration is waiting for the final response from Seville within hours.

For the thirteenth day.. 30 detainees continue their hunger strike

Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - 30 administrative detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons continue, for the thirteenth day in a row, to engage in an open hunger strike, in protest against the policy of administrative detention against them.

Saudi Arabia announces thwarting an attempt to smuggle about 15 million Captagon tablets

Riyadh - (AFP) - Saudi Arabia announced Friday the seizure of nearly 15 million tablets of Captagon , which the authorities have been fighting attempts to smuggle and distribute for years on a large scale in the Kingdom and throughout the region.

The kingdom, which has the largest economy in the Arab world, is one of the largest markets for Captagon in the Middle East.

The government-run Al-Ekhbariya channel quoted the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority as having thwarted "an attempt to smuggle about 15 million Captagon pills in a consignment that came to the Kingdom through the Islamic port of Jeddah" in the west of the country.

The seizures were "technically hidden in a consignment of a machine for making concrete blocks." The authority said that, "in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control, one person has arrested the receiver of narcotics inside the Kingdom."

Captagon is basically the brand name for a drug patented in Germany in the early 1960s, consisting of a type of stimulating amphetamine called phenethylene, intended for the treatment of attention deficit disorder and insomnia, among other conditions.

The use of the drug was later banned, turning it into a drug that is produced and consumed almost exclusively in the Middle East.

The Kingdom regularly announces seizures of Captagon pills, which come mainly from Syria and Lebanon through shipments, especially fruits and vegetables. Customs said it seized 119 million pills last year.

A report prepared by the Washington-based New Lines Research Institute in April stated that the trade in narcotic Captagon pills expanded significantly in the Middle East during the year 2021, exceeding $5 billion.

Figures for 2022 in the region show that smuggling continues to grow.

During the first months of this year, the Jordanian, Saudi and Iraqi authorities announced the seizure of shipments of Captagon.

And last month, Iraqi security forces shot down a glider loaded with a million pills in Basra, in the south of the country.

The Gulf states, led by Saudi Arabia, have long criticized Lebanon for its lack of commitment to combating this smuggling, accusing Hezbollah of being the main driver behind the smuggling operations.
