Quito - (AFP) - Three Ecuadorean climbers died and 12 others were injured when they tried to reach the top of Ecuador's Cariwirazo volcano, according to aid agencies.

"A woman aged forty-seven and two men aged forty-five and fifty were killed," ECU911 Rescue Authority said in a statement.

She added that it was impossible to remove the bodies from the site "because of the weather and the onset of darkness."

The twelve injured, whose ages ranged between thirty-nine and fifty-eight, were transferred to hospitals in the cities of Riobamba and Ambato.

The climbers were trying to reach the summit of the volcano located in the central region of the Andes mountain range when they fell from a height of 60 metres.

The height of Kariwirazo is 5018 meters, and it is located in the province of Tungurawa, near the Chimborazo volcano, which is the highest peak in Ecuador and has a height of more than 6200 meters.

On Sunday, work continues to recover the bodies of the dead, all Ecuadoreans.

برلين- (د ب أ)- تعتزم ألمانيا تقديم دعم لمشروع إعادة ترميم منزل الموسيقار الألماني الشهير ريتشارد فاغنر في العاصمة اللاتفية ريغا.

وأعلن المكتب الرئاسي في ريغا أن الرئيس الألماني فرانك-فالتر شتاينماير سيتولى رعاية المشروع بالمشاركة مع نظيره اللاتفي اجيلس ليفتسن وجاء إعلان المكتب الرئاسي اللاتفي بعد لقاء بين الرئيسين عقداه في العاصمة الألمانية برلين الثلاثاء.

وفي السياق نفسه، أعلن المكتب الرئاسي الألماني أن البرلمان وافق على موارد المشروع التي لم يتم تحديدها على نحو دقيق.

ومن المنتظر أن تدعم المشروع، ابنة حفيد فاغنر، إيفا فاجنر-باسكير والمديرة السابقة لمهرجان بايرويت لموسيقى فاغنر، كأحد رعاته أيضاً.

يشار إلى أنه قبل أن يشتهر فاجنر (1883-1813) كمؤلف أوبرالي، كان قد عمل في الفترة بين 1837 و1839 كقائد فرقة في المسرح الألماني في ريغا، ويقع مبنى هذا المسرح في الشارع الذي يحمل اسم فاجنر في ريغا، وتم تأسيس قاعة حفلات في المبنى تحمل اسم قاعة حفلات فاغنر منذ نهاية الثمانينيات.

وتعد حالة المبنى حالياً سيئة، وقد مر الآن أكثر من عقد على إغلاقه حيث أصبح في حاجة إلى التجديد.

وتعتزم شركة ريتشارد فاغنر في ريغا الاستعانة بموارد مالية خاصة لإعادة تشغيل المبنى كمركز للحفلات والعروض، وكانت الشركة تسلمت المبنى التاريخي في العاصمة اللاتفية في خريف 2020.
