U.S. ambassador calls for Israel to end settler violence

Tom Nides, the US' outgoing ambassador to Israel, called for an immediate stop to settler violence in the occupied West Bank.

Nides made the comments in a meeting he held on Thursday with young Israelis and Palestinians in Tel Aviv, according to the Hebrew news site Ynet. 

“We will not stand by and watch settler violence occur,” the ambassador said. “We're pushing the Israelis to take whatever action they need to take to arrest these people.”

He continued, "The United States encourages the Israeli government to instruct security forces to do everything in their power to prevent settler violence against Palestinians, and to prosecute perpetrators."
