Abu Bakr warns of the serious health condition of the captive Daqqa

The head of the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Qadri Abu Bakr, warned, on Tuesday, of the seriousness of the health condition of the cancer-stricken detainee Walid Daqqa, stressing that his condition calls for intensified efforts to release him and save his life.

Abu Bakr added, in a statement distributed by the Commission, that it was announced that the prisoner Daqqa needed a spinal cord transplant, as the heroic prisoner Zakaria Al-Zubaidi donated to him from within the families, as well as his brothers and sisters abroad, but the Israeli occupation authorities ignored the matter and did nothing.

He pointed out that his health condition developed to affect the lungs, where he became unable to breathe, which necessitated him to undergo surgery and remove part of his right lung, and he is currently living on oxygen and artificial respiration.

Abu Bakr pointed out that the Prisoners' Affairs Commission, through the presidency, the highest levels and regional countries, is seeking urgent intervention in order to put pressure on the Israeli authorities to release the prisoner Walid Daqqa for treatment in our hospitals or abroad wherever necessary.

He stressed that the occupation authorities have not yet responded, adding: "It is clear that Israel's policy takes precedence over executing the prisoner, as well as what happened with those who preceded him, and not performing an operation on him."

Abu Bakr noted that Walid Daqqa ended his 37-year sentence, but the occupation issued a new two-year sentence against him, bringing him to 39 years for smuggling cell phones.

Abu Bakr emphasized that the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority is working alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to document Israeli crimes and submit them to the Criminal Court, pointing out that there are 13 martyrs inside prisons whose bodies are still kept by the occupation, in addition to hundreds of martyrs in digital graves, all of which will be submitted to the Criminal Court. international.
