Shtayyeh: The visit to Cairo led to important results

Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said today, Monday, "The recent visit of the Palestinian delegation to Cairo led to important results, including that it was in political consultations between Palestine and Egypt.


Shtayyeh added, at the beginning of the weekly government session, "Among these results is the provision of expertise to establish a unified window for investment services, and an understanding between the ministries of economy in the two countries in the field of specifications, metrology and gold stamping."


And he continued: "Signing the agricultural cooperation protocol between the two countries, which enhances the trade exchange of Palestinian agricultural products to the Egyptian market, importing fertilizers and veterinary vaccines, exchanging experiences in the fields of agriculture, cooperation in the field of agricultural research, and increasing the number of scholarships, including grants for veterinary medicine."


He added, "Agreement to consider increasing the deduction in university fees for Palestinian high school graduates in Palestine, and expanding the student segment to include Palestinian refugees who hold documents in countries of asylum, as well as agreeing that the discount rate should include private universities, the University of Technology and higher institutes."


And he continued: "Beginning to prepare technical and security measures to activate the Palestinian mobile service in Egypt, as well as training a number of information technology managers from government department employees on data governance requirements to start digitizing the government."


He added, "Training a number of managers of planning, performance and quality measurement in the Palestinian government sector, training imams and female preachers courses with the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments, and providing 150 scholarships from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif for various specializations such as medicine, engineering, religious sciences, and others, including a master's degree and a doctorate."


He referred to the approval of training 20 Palestinian doctors annually in Egyptian hospitals, and the formation of a technical committee to study the delivery of electric current from Egypt to the Gaza Strip.


Forming a technical committee to develop proposals to benefit from the reconstruction programs funded by the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Gaza Strip, and to review the commercial and human outputs and inputs of the Rafah crossing.


He referred to arranging the visit of a delegation of Egyptian businessmen to Palestine next September, and the visit of a delegation of Egyptian university presidents to Palestine.


In another context, Shtayyeh said: "Today we are passing the 56th anniversary of the setback of June 1967, during which Israel occupied the West Bank, including Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, violating international laws that demanded its immediate withdrawal to the borders of June 4th, and Israel still practices organized state terrorism and continues Committing its crimes against our people and working with its practices to undermine the opportunity to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.


Shtayyeh stressed that all those crimes that the occupation forces committed and are still committing against our people will not deter us from continuing the struggle until we achieve our national rights with freedom, the embodiment of the state and the right of return.


On another issue, he said: “In the name of the Council of Ministers, I wish our children in all schools of the homeland and diaspora, who number about 88,000 male and female students, and who will go to the seats of the general secondary exam “Tawjihi” the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, with success in the exam, and I extend my greetings from all corners of the Ministry of Education. And appreciation for their tireless effort to create conditions conducive to the success of the exam.


The Cabinet welcomed the report prepared by 21 heads of European missions to Palestine, which emphasized the seriousness of the Israeli legal schemes aimed at changing the historical status quo in Jerusalem, terrorizing settlers, and the various occupation measures such as settlement expansion in East Jerusalem, house demolitions, and attacks on holy places. and the restrictions on education and schools, and many other violations of Palestinian human rights in the city of Jerusalem, we call on the governments of the European Union countries to take this report seriously, and to assume their responsibilities in curbing these measures and holding the occupying state accountable for them under international law.


It also welcomed the positions of the countries that participated in the UNRWA donors' conference, which emphasized the agency's important role in providing services to millions of Palestinian refugees. It also welcomed the financial pledges announced at the conference, and the Cabinet affirmed that stabilizing the UNRWA budget requires securing adequate and sustainable funding from donor countries. And calls on the United Nations and its Secretary-General to increase its financial contributions from its regular budget to support the budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.


Today, the Council of Ministers will discuss: security and financial reports, cybersecurity, the electric vehicle charging system, school health care for Jerusalem schools, infrastructure projects, and the Renewable Energy Investments Recycling Fund.
