The donors' conference raises 812 million dollars for UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees "UNRWA" announced that the member states of the donors' conference in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees "UNRWA" have collectively pledged $812.3 million, including $107.2 million in new contributions.


In a press statement following the conclusion of the conference, which was held on Friday in New York with the participation of many international and international figures, UNRWA confirmed, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the General Assembly, and the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, in addition to many ambassadors of member states, that the international community He affirmed his longstanding commitment to Palestine refugees and to UNRWA by providing political and financial support.


“While we are grateful for the pledges announced, they are short of the funds the Agency needs to keep over 700 UNRWA schools and 140 UNRWA clinics open from September onwards,” said UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini. “We will continue to work tirelessly with our partners, including In that host countries - the biggest supporters of refugees - to raise the necessary funds."


UNRWA announced that the funds donated on Friday will go to the following UNRWA appeals: Program Budget: $53 million Occupied Palestinian Territories Emergency Appeal: $32.2 million Syria Crisis Emergency Appeal: $12.9 million Syria Earthquake Urgent Appeal: $2.1 million Projects: $7 million.
