Israel and Islamic Jihad and a new round

The assassination of the three Palestinian leaders, and after them the others in Gaza, at the start of the Israeli military campaign against Islamic Jihad, was a premeditated and clearly planned act aimed at obtaining personal and political gains for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He confused the Palestinian reaction in the middle of last Ramadan, when Ben Gvir and the Trustees of the Temple then stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Which led to a response to it by Hamas and jihad from the Lebanese border and the Gaza Strip, and Netanyahu was forced at the time to stop the incursions and allow Muslims to pray and observe i’tikaaf in the last ten days in the blessed month of Ramadan, then Netanyahu said that he would allow the Palestinians to pray, but he did not reveal his intentions and how He will respond to them after the end of the blessed month of Ramadan.

Indeed, the response was on the night of the eighth of May, when he announced his orders for a simultaneous assassination targeting the leaders of the Islamic Jihad.

This caused a shock among the Palestinians, especially among the Islamic Jihad movement, as they waited for the response and did not launch it directly by firing rockets at Israel, as was the custom in the past.

And the Israeli street waited for a response for more than forty hours, then Israel targeted other leaders, which prompted jihad to respond on the Israeli side, and then a fierce battle began between the two parties, in which tens of thousands of residents of the south were evacuated to the rear areas, and Israel bombed many sites In the Gaza Strip, a hit-and-run battle began between the two parties, and immediately after that, the Egyptian side entered the negotiation line, which tried to reap the price, but it did not succeed much. It has become clear that Israel basically wants to stop the Palestinian bombardment of its populated areas in the area surrounding Gaza from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and the area adjacent to them. As for the Palestinian side, it has enumerated its demands related to stopping the assassinations and returning the bodies of the detained Palestinians, members of the Islamic Jihad and others.

Whatever it is, if we want to enumerate the losses and gains for the two parties, we can look at this with a pragmatic vision for the two parties. On the level of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he was able to give the impression to the Israeli street that he is a prime minister who does not forget what Hamas relied on when Israel bombed from the Lebanese border and takes revenge on the Israelis even after For a long time, the theory of deterrence that he pursues is equal to that of his ally in the government, Itamar from Ghfir.

The journalist, Michael Shemesh of Channel 11, revealed that the political commentator, Yaakov Berdugo, has a good relationship with Netanyahu, and he instructed him to take political steps similar to Ben Gvir with regard to these assassinations, but without Ben Gvir participating in the decisions of the government cabinet, and indeed this What happened and despite the fact that the campaign and its background on Gaza has not ended, we see another achievement, which is the support of the protesters for this operation, who are holding weekly protests and demonstrations against this campaign, and claiming that the Israeli army reserve pilots affiliated with these protesters are the ones who carried out the assassinations in the Gaza Strip.

Which strengthens the state of Zionist consensus in Israeli society and all this at the expense of the Palestinians, but these protesters are not satisfied with that process, but rather they want Netanyahu to surrender with a clear surrender and to cancel the constitutional reforms that he proposed, and we will see that very soon, and if this is not done, then instability and disagreement They will continue in Israeli society.
As for the dispute with the Palestinians, it will increase more and more. Although the Islamic Jihad was unable to form a multi-axial front, as many Israelis say, it caused a rift in the theory of deterrence and in the decisive Israeli response against the Gaza Strip. Since the war did not stop, and the Palestinians did not demand a cease-fire through negotiations with the Egyptian side, as expected by the Israeli side.

The harshness and brutality of the Israeli response and the targeting of civilians were also evident, as more than twenty civilians were killed, most of whom were children who were sleeping in their homes. On the other hand, the Palestinians did not target Israeli civilians, as the Israelis did, as Israel evacuated huge strategic areas adjacent to the borders with the Gaza Strip, especially In the southern region and the cover of Gaza, the movement of work in the center area and its environs was paralyzed, so that Israel announced, through the analyzes of Israeli journalists, that it is not based on a long-term war and a war with multiple axes and fronts, as its analysts claim.

There is a complete collapse of Netanyahu's idea and strategy of waging war against Iran, Lebanon and Syria at the same time, so that Israel is not included in Iran's calculations. It is included in these momentary calculations, and it is sufficient for it to be exhausted by the conflict with the Palestinians.

US National Security Adviser Jack Saliban visited Saudi Arabia last Friday, May 5, with the aim of meeting with Saudi officials and developing normalization relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, but he waited two days in Jeddah until Sunday, May 7, until Mohammed bin Salman met him for this. The purpose and did not achieve any actual result, so he left empty-handed from there, and the next day Biden's envoy in the Middle East met with Netanyahu for this purpose to inform him of that, but Netanyahu carried out the assassination on the same night, which dispelled all American endeavors.

Likewise, the American side did not stand in the way of Netanyahu with regard to the killing of Palestinian children and civilians in Gaza, and contented himself with calling for an end to the Israeli operation.

With regard to the requests of the Islamic Jihad movement from the Israeli side related to stopping the assassinations, it is difficult for Israel to implement this just Palestinian demand that is contrary to all international laws, since the policy of continuous continuation of the occupation is based on building prisons and placing Palestinian prisoners in them continuously, and continuing with raids and assassinations. If it is willing to sign such an agreement, we can see it decide to prevent the media march next week in Jerusalem and any Israeli incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian cities in the West Bank, and this is difficult to happen, and therefore the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues with full force.

And Israel should not give the impression that it can carry out regional strikes against other Arab countries, as its dispute with the Palestinians is sufficient for it for a long time.
