Khader Adnan: The Warrior Who Fought Alone.

I feel very ashamed as I write this article for two reasons: First, I am not one of those who are good at composing words of lamentation and glorification in the presence of death. Secondly, the intense anger and fascination inside me since I heard the news of the martyrdom of the genie Sheikh Khader Adnan, then the statements of the virtuous lady his wife and the fiery cheers of his son, and a question that haunts me: What mighty moral force God has bestowed on this family? Adnan the father who fought alone on the battlefield against all fronts: the lust of hunger and body pain, the loneliness of the cell and the oppression of tyrants, the separation of children and death standing at the door of his cell. My mind refuses to believe that he is this calm, bearded person whom I pictured on the poster..as I can only imagine him as a superhero in a historical epic, may God increase him abundantly in body and knowledge, who possesses a sword and tremendous strength with which he fights his enemies until he defeats them all..

For centuries, the hunger strike has been the harshest method of protest associated with the movement of the legal rights of the imprisoned person when he has no other way against the oppressors, wherever they are in Russia, India, South Africa, Ireland, even in America, in order to improve the conditions of his detention, release him, or draw attention to his case. This cruel and exorbitant method, in which a person sacrifices his body, his pain, and his life in return for reaching his legitimate goal, has major components for success, the most important of which is popular support and the mobilization of internal and international public opinion to draw attention to it. Was there sufficient support for Sheikh Adnan? Also among the components of the success of this method is the amazing ability to be patient against the oppressive occupier and his twisted methods and belief in the goal, which is what Sheikh Adnan and his companions who preceded him and those who followed him embraced in this unique style of resistance, but God wrote martyrdom on the Sheikh and on Israel that did not have mercy on his nation, shame and disgrace, God willing .

The rumbling of the empty intestines of the heroic prisoners must come out from behind bars to become an audible voice, and communication and networking in today's world is easy and important with those in the parts of the earth who fought and are fighting in the same way for their causes. Likewise, following the strategy of escalating global pressure on Israel in this issue is the duty of the activists of the Palestinian communities in Europe, America and the world, and those who support the Palestinian cause, by spreading the story of the prisoner, his human suffering, and his legal rights in every gathering and every institution and organization concerned with these rights. And this should not be limited to international organizations only, but also to local organizations in those countries that care about the rights and issues of prisoners, such as the American “Equal Justice Initiative” organization that specializes in the rights of the most vulnerable people, racial injustice and detention in the United States, and the “Prison Policy Initiative” organization that It aims to launch advocacy campaigns, research and studies on reforming the conditions of detention and imprisonment. Also, it is necessary to increase the focus on the momentum of the legal and human dimension of the issue of prisoners by the bar associations in the West Bank and Gaza with their counterparts in the world from international human rights institutions and unions to activate legal files and publish facts and studies on the widest scale related to the invalidity of the Israeli military court system and its practices, especially with regard to administrative detention .

Sheikh Khader Adnan fought alone in his life. Let us work so that his death is not the end of his path, but rather the beginning and source of inspiration for the challenge and the possibility of freedom.
