The "teachers' movement" announces the suspension of the strike and the return to schools, and the government welcomes it

The Unified Teachers Movement announced, at midnight, the freezing of the strike, and all activities announced by it until the date of the tenth of next September, and the Secretary of the Central Committee of the "Fatah" movement, Jibril Rajoub, was given the opportunity to implement the amended initiative that was presented, which he considered non-implementation The first point of it relates to the democratization of the Teachers Union in a manner that guarantees freedom of candidacy and election, in contradiction to its generality.


The movement announced regular working hours in all schools, starting today, Wednesday, and the return of all teachers and students to them, and work according to the plan and tasks assigned to them.


And he indicated that he would take positions on any announcement by the ministry that might constitute retaliation against teachers, including assigning them to unfair compensation programs.


The statement thanked the parents, male and female students, and the social and public incubator for supporting the teachers, and the movement saluted the teachers for their standing and steadfastness in their rights.


The initiative on which the crisis was resolved stipulates that the remaining 10% of the bonus agreed upon in 2022, amounting to 15%, be entered into the 2023 budget, and implemented with a maximum right in the salary of the month of 1/2024, or in the event of a breakthrough in the financial crisis, and the formation of a democratic union for teachers that guarantees freedom Candidacy and election no later than the tenth of next September, ensuring that no male or female teacher will be subjected to any future penalties for their participation in the strike and events, and canceling all penalties and deductions previously issued.


The Council of Ministers welcomed the response of all teachers to the government's calls to return to school hours, to protect our children and save the school year, especially Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh's call for male and female teachers during his inspection tour to a number of schools in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate yesterday morning, and his clear and frank dialogue with male and female teachers. And his emphasis on the importance of the regularity of the educational process in a way that preserves the right of our children to education, and in a way that preserves the rights and dignity of teachers.


This came in a statement issued by the Council tonight, in which it praised all the efforts made over the past weeks to end the crisis, especially by the Central Committee of the "Fatah" movement, represented by the Secretary of the Committee, Jibril Rajoub, the national factions, the secretaries of the regions in the governorates, civil society organizations, and councils. Parents; Who invited parents to accompany their sons and daughters to schools this morning, to ensure the regularity of the educational process.

The statement emphasized that the government responded to the teachers' demands, out of appreciation for their role in educating our children, and upholding the status of science and teachers.

The Council of Ministers saluted all teachers, especially those who did not stop doing their duty and performing their sacred mission.

The statement confirmed that the Prime Minister instructed the formation of a special committee to draw lessons from the strike. Which took a long time, because it took a political turn, not a demand one, after the government responded to all the rights and demands of teachers.

The statement indicated that the academic year will remain open until the end of the academic course, and students will be compensated for the educational losses they missed, according to the plan set by the Ministry of Education in this regard.
