Necessary meeting

A good initiative, and an important gathering, called for by Saudi Arabia on April 14, 2023. It included the foreign ministers of 9 Arab countries: the six Arab Gulf countries, along with Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.

The achievement, however modest it seemed, was that it did not reach a final decision to return Syria to its position in the Arab League, as it was, and as it should be, but the meeting laid the groundwork and laid the necessary premises towards understanding, to make the Syrian issue alive in the interest of the majority of Arab countries, and to end The state of estrangement with it, and the abolition of the slogans of overthrowing, changing or replacing the regime, so that the regime is the legal characteristic that qualifies and the binding address, and ending betting on other military or civilian opposition parties, to be an alternative to the regime.

It is no longer a secret that the Israeli colony and the American administration, through its various channels and security, intelligence and military tools, were behind the decisions to destroy Iraq, Syria, Libya and others in service of the colony’s goal to be the only force in controlling the Arab situation, along with three surrounding parties, Turkey, Iran and Ethiopia, which have direct influence and attempts to intervene. affairs of neighboring Arab countries.

The Saudi Arabian initiative bears the characteristic of retreating from all policies that were consistent with American visions and positions, and bears the characteristic of independence and respect for the national and national interests of our countries, our peoples, and our nationalism.

The meeting does not mean rejecting the point of view of each party, but it seeks to establish common denominators between the various parties, relying on dialogue and discussion on contentious issues, highlighting the common towards them, and giving more opportunities, dialogue and discussion to reach agreed conclusions.

The Syrian issue was a priority, and it is the main motive for the meeting in order to:

1- Direct Arab-Syrian involvement with the aim of reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis, preserving Syria's unity, cohesion, and sovereignty, restoring its security, stability, and role, creating conditions for the voluntary return of refugees, and ridding it of terrorism.

2- Resolving the humanitarian crisis and providing the appropriate environment for aid to reach all Syrian regions.

3- Cooperation in combating terrorism in all its forms and organizations, combating drug smuggling and trafficking, ending the presence of armed militias, and foreign interference in Syrian internal affairs.

4- Continued consultation and coordination between the parties to agree on work mechanisms and next steps, in order to complete what has been done, and launch an Arab leadership role in efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis.

The Palestinian cause and its consequences were present, and the important acknowledgment of the centrality of the Palestinian cause and its priorities, especially after a series of crimes and transgressions and abuse by the colony and its tools on the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the prevention of Muslim and Christian worshipers from practicing their rights and rituals in the month of Ramadan for Muslims, and the celebrations of Christians with their feasts and their vigils on Good Friday Bright Saturday and Easter Sunday.

A cumulative Arab position that deserves respect, and the need to continue its gradual steps and successful endings in service of the nation’s issues, at the forefront of which are Palestine and Syria, and all issues of attrition as a result of inter-Arab wars and their cessation.
