Rapper Bad Bunny's ex-girlfriend is demanding $40 million from him

A former girlfriend of Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny has sued him for $40 million for using her voice without her permission in a number of his songs, some media reported.

And the "Notisl" website reported on Monday that Carlize de la Cruz Hernandez, who was in a romantic relationship with the rap star in 2011 and 2016, filed a lawsuit against him in early March before a court in San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico.

In the lawsuit, Carly's said she recorded "Bad Bunny Baby" on her phone in 2015, when Bad Bunny was not yet the reggaeton star he is today.

She added that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Martinez Ocasio, later used this recording without permission at the beginning of the song "Pa Te" and, a few years later, in the song "Dos Mel 16" from his Grammy-winning album "Un Verano Cin Te".

The lawsuit indicated that the artist's team sent contracts requesting de la Cruz Hernandez's approval to use her phrase in "Dos Mile 16", but one day before the album was released in May 2022, but he did not wait to receive a response from her.

The lawsuit added that "thousands of people have made comments on Carlize de la Cruz Hernandez's social media accounts" since the song's release, "which has caused and continues to cause her anxiety, anguish, a sense of intimidation, confusion and anxiety."
