UK energy price cap raised by 80%

London (AFP) - The energy price cap in the United Kingdom will rise by 80 percent from October, driving up inflation amid the cost of living crisis and putting pressure on the government to act.

On Friday, the British Energy Regulatory Authority (Ofgym) announced that the ceiling would rise from 1,971 pounds annually per average household to 3,549 pounds due to the rise in global gas prices, especially since the war in Ukraine.
