Wakanda Forever continues to top the box office
LOS ANGELES - (AFP) - "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" continued to top the North American box office , taking more than $64 million in revenue over the Thanksgiving long weekend, according to figures released by Expert Relations. .
This work, a sequel to the 2018 hit "Black Panther", pays homage to Chadwick Boseman, the star of the first part, who died in 2020 of colon cancer at the age of 43. The actor appears in the new part, through retrospective scenes, as T'Challa, the ruler of the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda.
After T'Challa's death, Wakanda finds itself battling global powers, including the Undersea Kingdom, and struggling to maintain its independence.
Moviegoers across the US and Canada overwhelmingly favored this Marvel movie over Disney's animated "Stranger World," which only grossed $18.6 million over the long weekend.
In third place was the movie "Devotion", about the story of two fighter pilots belonging to the US Navy, with revenues of $ 9 million.
It was followed in fourth place by "The Menu" starring Ralph Fiennes, who plays a famous chef whose menu includes terrifying surprises. The work earned 7.3 million dollars.
The superheroes "Black Adam" ranked fifth, with revenues of nearly five million dollars.
