Justin Bieber announces he has facial paralysis: unable to smile
New York - (AFP) - Canadian singer Justin Bieber , who recently canceled two concerts he was scheduled to perform in the Canadian city of Toronto, announced in a post on his official Instagram account on Friday that he was suffering from a rare disease that led to paralysis on one side of his face, which forced him to to cancel the remaining concerts of his tour.
"Hi everyone (...) I suffer from Ramsey-Hunt syndrome, which you can see on my face," the international star said in a video clip he posted on his Instagram account, which is followed by 240 million users.
He continued, "This side of my face was completely paralyzed," explaining that he was unable to blink except through one eye, or to smile except on a specific side of his mouth.
Bieber, 28, added, "So for those of you who were frustrated by the cancellation of my upcoming concerts, I am not physically able to do them. My health is very delicate as you can see."
And while Bieber was scheduled to perform two concerts in the famous “Madison Square Garden” hall in New York on Monday and Tuesday, and then complete his tour with a number of concerts in the United States before heading to Europe, the singer did not indicate any information regarding the resumption of the tour.
Bieber had twice postponed his concert tour due to the pandemic, and the cancellation of his concerts in Toronto upset some of his fans on social media.
Bieber said that he puts his face through certain exercises and takes time to "rest and relax and get back healthy."
