Widespread Military Escalation: Intense US Airstrikes on Iran in Response to Soldiers' Deaths in Jordan

US forces announced on Sunday morning the execution of a series of intense airstrikes against targets within Iranian territory. This new wave of attacks comes as part of Washington's efforts to undermine Tehran's military capabilities, which have become a direct threat to international navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz region.

The US Central Command confirmed in an official statement that the air operations began with direct instructions from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The statement clarified that the military action aims to protect commercial waterways and ensure the flow of global trade, which is subject to continuous harassment by Iranian forces.

These field developments come as a swift retaliatory response to the killing of two American soldiers in Jordan in recent hours. Washington stressed that the attacks directly target centers of influence and power of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which is responsible for recent hostile operations against American interests in the region.

Regarding the details of the field attack, media sources reported that the American shelling hit vital sites near the coastal area of Sirik. Local reports also monitored explosions resulting from an aerial targeting of an area surrounding the city of Hajiabad, located deep within the country, indicating an expansion of the selected targets.

CENTCOM had previously revealed details of the attack that occurred in Jordan on July 17. It explained that US forces were involved in defensive operations against Iranian-made ballistic missiles and drones before their position was directly hit, leading to casualties.

The attack targeting forces in Jordan resulted in the death of two soldiers and the disappearance of a third soldier, who is still being searched for. Four other soldiers were evacuated to medical facilities within Jordanian territory for emergency treatment, while a number of those with minor injuries returned to their military duties.

Washington adhered to a policy of withholding the names of military casualties in compliance with established protocols to respect family privacy. Sources indicated that the official announcement of the identities of the deceased would be made after completing the notification procedures for their next of kin and after the legal period of 24 hours has passed.

In a related context, the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq witnessed a parallel escalation in recent hours. Field sources reported that suicide drones targeted the US Consulate headquarters in the city, reflecting a state of comprehensive alert on various fronts where US forces are present.

Observers believe that this wave of strikes represents a qualitative shift in the rules of engagement between Washington and Tehran. It appears that the US administration has decided to move beyond limited responses and target Iranian depth to deter repeated attacks carried out by Iranian-backed factions in the region.

Economically, these military tensions have led to a state of turmoil in global markets, with the dollar stabilizing, supported by increased demand for it as a safe haven. Markets fear the impact on global energy supplies if military escalation continues near the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered the lifeline for oil trade.

A state of maximum alert continues at US bases deployed in the Middle East in anticipation of any potential Iranian reaction. International political circles are closely monitoring the repercussions of this direct confrontation, amidst calls for restraint to avoid the region sliding into a comprehensive regional war with dire consequences.

These strikes aim to undermine Iran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and to deliver a swift and harsh response after our military personnel were targeted.
