The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported in its daily statistical update that hospitals received 11 martyrs and 32 injured as a result of attacks carried out by the occupation forces during the past twenty-four hours. These injuries and deaths come amidst ongoing military operations targeting various areas of the Strip, exacerbating the already deteriorating humanitarian crisis.
Official data issued by the Ministry revealed that the number of victims since the eleventh of last October, the date associated with the start of ceasefire understandings, has risen to 947 martyrs and 2,935 injuries. Medical teams and rescue crews have also been able to recover 781 bodies from various sites that had been bombed at earlier times.
Regarding the cumulative toll since the aggression erupted on October 7, 2023, medical sources confirmed that the number of officially documented martyrs has reached 72,956. Meanwhile, the number of injured and wounded individuals dealt with by the dilapidated health system has risen to 173,043 people, suffering from injuries of varying severity.
The Ministry emphasized in its statement that there are large numbers of victims who are still missing, with many trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes or in rugged roads. Civil defense and ambulance crews face enormous challenges preventing them from reaching these targeted areas to recover bodies or provide relief to trapped injured individuals.
Field reports indicate that the continued Israeli shelling directly hinders any attempts to recover victims, increasing the likelihood of a rise in the number of martyrs due to bleeding or lack of immediate medical care. Health authorities appeal to the international community to intervene to secure safe corridors for rescue teams to carry out their humanitarian missions in the affected areas.
Amidst these horrific figures, the Gaza Strip is experiencing a state of paralysis in vital facilities, with remaining hospitals overcrowded with patients and wounded amidst a severe shortage of medical supplies and fuel. Sources confirm that the health situation has reached unprecedented catastrophic stages threatening the lives of thousands of injured people who require urgent surgical interventions.
A number of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, amidst the difficulties faced by ambulance and civil defense crews in reaching them.
