The Iranian-Israeli confrontation entered an unprecedented phase since February 28th, when a military coalition launched a wide-ranging aggression directly targeting the supreme leadership structure in Tehran. Sources reported that the operations focused on eliminating the ruling elite, leading to radical changes in the Iranian power hierarchy after the confirmed death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who had been in office for more than three decades, followed by the election of his son Mojtaba Khamenei in a remarkable political shift.
Among the prominent figures targeted by assassinations was Ali Larijani, considered one of the pillars of the regime and a close advisor to the late leader. Larijani, who served as Speaker of Parliament and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, played a pivotal role in managing strategic files and the recent war. The list also included Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Basij forces, whose name was associated with internal security control and who rose through the ranks of the Revolutionary Guard until he reached leadership.
The targeting did not stop at the political level but struck deep into the military and security sectors; sources announced the killing of Ali Shamkhani, the architect of international agreements and a prominent political advisor, along with Mohammad Pakpour, the commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guard, and Abdolrahim Mousavi, the chief of staff. The operations also targeted Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, whom Tel Aviv accuses of overseeing long-range missile programs and defense innovation systems, in an attempt to completely undermine Iranian military capabilities.
The aggression began under the slogan of decapitating the political and military leadership of the regime, targeting the highest religious and political authority in the country.
