The head of the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) David Barnea said today, Tuesday, that Israel must ensure that Iran does not restart its nuclear program, six months after bombing Tehran's atomic facilities during a 12-day war.
Barnea said during a ceremony honoring Mossad elements in Jerusalem that "the idea of continuing to develop a nuclear bomb still beats in their hearts. It is our responsibility to ensure that the nuclear project, which was severely damaged, is not reactivated again, and that through close cooperation with the Americans".
In June/June last year, over 12 days, Israel targeted nuclear facilities, military and civilian sites, assassinated senior military leaders, including the commander of the Revolutionary Guard and the chief of staff, and prominent nuclear scientists, and Iran responded with a series of missile attacks that caused unprecedented destruction in several Israeli cities.
In parallel with the Israeli attack, the United States bombed 3 Iranian nuclear facilities, and US President Donald Trump spoke about completely destroying the Iranian nuclear program, but intelligence assessments issued from Washington cast doubts on that.
