Zelensky surprises: Russia is bombing us with weapons that have Western components.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today, Monday, that the Russian missiles and drones that recently bombarded his country contain components made in the West.

Zelensky confirmed the discovery of tens of thousands of foreign parts in the Russian weapons that struck Ukraine early Sunday, stating that some of these parts were made in Western countries that stand militarily and politically alongside Kyiv.

Zelensky said in a social media post, 'During the massive joint attack on Ukraine on the night of October 5, Russia used 549 weapon systems that included 102,785 foreign-made components,' referring to the attack that occurred early Sunday.

Russia launched about 500 drones and more than 50 missiles towards Ukraine that night, resulting in the deaths of 5 people, including in the Lviv region (west) hundreds of kilometers away from the front line, and caused damage to energy infrastructure.

Zelensky reported that parts in the drones and missiles intercepted during the attack were from 'companies in the United States, China, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the Netherlands.'

He noted that the components found in the downed drones and missiles included converters, sensors, and microcomputers.

He said, 'The microcontrollers for drones are made in Switzerland, while the microcomputers for controlling drone flight are made in the United Kingdom,' adding that Kyiv is preparing new sanctions against their manufacturers.

He added, 'We have proposed measures to limit supply plans. Partners already have detailed data on every company and every product. They know what to target and how to respond.'
