Saudi Arabia called on the international community on Saturday evening to stop the tragedy in Gaza due to the Israeli genocide and the blockade imposed on the sector, demanding "international measures to stop Israel's crimes and deter it."
This came in the Kingdom's speech delivered by Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Saudi minister said: "The international community must bear its responsibilities to stop the tragedy in the Gaza Strip."
He emphasized that "the international community's failure to take decisive action to stop Israeli violations will only contribute to destabilizing security and stability regionally and globally."
Bin Farhan pointed out that "what is happening in the Gaza Strip has been officially classified as famine in light of the brutal practices carried out by Israel without deterrence."
He indicated that "the suffering witnessed by the Palestinian people, the crisis in Gaza, and Israel's practices contradict the charter, principles, and international humanitarian law."
Since March 2, Israel has closed all crossings leading to Gaza, preventing any food supplies or humanitarian aid, plunging the sector into famine despite relief trucks piling up at its borders.
Israel sometimes allows very limited aid to enter that does not meet the minimum needs of the starving and does not end the famine, especially as most trucks are subjected to looting by gangs that the Gaza government claims are protected by Israel.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza with American support, resulting in 65,926 deaths and 167,783 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and famine has claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
Bin Farhan stressed that "the time has come to find a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue."
He also affirmed that "the Kingdom will continue its diligent efforts to achieve the establishment of an independent Palestinian state."
He called on the Security Council to support the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).
The Saudi minister reiterated the Kingdom's condemnation of "the blatant Israeli assaults on Qatar (on September 9)."
He said: "We demand international measures to stop Israel's crimes and deter it."
He called for an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, affirming the Kingdom's support for Beirut in the matter of restricting weapons to the state.
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to support efforts to stabilize Syria, rejecting Israeli assaults on Syrian territory and sovereignty.
He emphasized that "the Kingdom affirms the importance of protecting navigation security in the Red Sea and the necessity of preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the region."
Regarding the Kingdom's efforts to support the two-state solution, the Saudi Foreign Minister said: "We initiated cooperation with Norway and the European Union to launch the international coalition for the two-state solution, which constitutes a clear executive pathway to implement the two-state solution."
He announced the Kingdom's welcome of the increasing number of countries that have recognized the State of Palestine, affirming that it is an important step towards entrenching the two-state solution and establishing peace.
During the United Nations General Assembly meetings, 11 countries recognized the State of Palestine, namely: Britain, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Luxembourg, Belgium, Andorra, France, Malta, Monaco, and San Marino, bringing the total to 159 out of 193 UN member states.
The international community must bear its responsibilities to stop the tragedy in the Gaza Strip.
