The Hebrew broadcasting authority stated on Friday that the Israeli army will broadcast Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before the United Nations General Assembly in the besieged Gaza Strip using loudspeakers, as part of the "psychological warfare" against the Palestinians.
The official authority added that "the southern command of the army will broadcast the Prime Minister's speech at the UN through loudspeakers inside the Gaza Strip today (Friday)." The authority noted that "the reason for this step is unclear."
It quoted an unnamed source as saying that Netanyahu will emphasize in his speech the attack by "Hamas" on October 7, 2023, on Israeli military bases, which was considered the largest security breach in Tel Aviv's history.
For its part, the private Channel 12 in Israel reported: "In recent days, the Prime Minister's office has asked the Israeli army to place loudspeakers at various points inside Gaza so that the residents (Palestinians) can hear Netanyahu's speech at the UN."
The channel continued: "The Prime Minister's office and the army refused to comment (on this step)." It quoted unnamed military sources as saying that "the request from Netanyahu's office to broadcast the speech to the residents of the Gaza Strip could pose an operational risk to the soldiers who would have to leave fortified positions to install the loudspeakers."
In this context, the private Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" quoted an unnamed senior officer as saying: "It's a crazy idea; no one understands what the military benefit of it is."
It also quoted an unnamed Israeli source as saying that the step comes within the framework of "psychological warfare."
Netanyahu is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly today at 16:00 Israel time (+2 GMT). Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza with American support, resulting in 65,502 deaths and 167,376 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and famine that has killed 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
The step comes within the framework of psychological warfare, and no one understands what the military benefit of it is.
