New York.. Egyptian-American talks on efforts to end the war in Gaza

New York City witnessed Egyptian-American discussions on ways to end the war that Israel has been waging on the Gaza Strip for two years. This came during two meetings that brought together Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti with his American counterpart Marco Rubio and Washington's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Wittekov, according to two statements from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

During the meeting with Rubio, Abdel Atti reiterated "the appreciation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for the efforts led by American President Donald Trump to immediately stop the war in Gaza." Abdel Atti stated that the meeting "took place in a positive atmosphere," emphasizing the necessity of "intensifying joint efforts to stop the bloodshed and prevent attempts to displace Palestinians."

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 65,419 deaths and 167,160 injuries among Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, in addition to a famine that has claimed the lives of 442 people, including 147 children.
