The Israeli occupation army announced this morning, Tuesday, the death of Captain Shahar Nathaniel Bozaglo (27 years old), a company commander in the 77th Battalion of the 7th Armored Brigade, after being hit by an 'RPG' shell fired by Palestinian resistance fighters at his tank in southern Gaza City.
The occupation army clarified that Bozaglo, who was operating under the Golani Brigade as part of the expansion of the 'Gideon Vehicles 2' operation, sustained serious injuries during the clash and was transported to 'Soroka' Hospital in Be'er Sheva, where he was later pronounced dead.
He is the first Israeli casualty since the ground phase of the operation began a week ago, which aims – according to the army's statement – to 'besiege and destroy the Gaza Brigade affiliated with Hamas.' The statement added that the forces involved in the operation intensified their activities within the city over the past twenty-four hours, with additional units from the 36th Division entering and carrying out artillery and air strikes on dozens of targets, including underground infrastructure and buildings used by 'Qassam' fighters. The army noted that its engineering forces continued combing operations to secure the advance of ground troops within the neighborhoods.
Four days ago, the occupation army announced the death of four of its soldiers in the city of Rafah, following the detonation of an explosive device targeting their military vehicle in the Al-Jinina neighborhood.
He is the first Israeli casualty since the ground phase of the operation began a week ago.
