Witkoff meets with Deirmar to discuss the resumption of negotiations regarding Gaza.

The Axios news site reported from a knowledgeable source that Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is scheduled to meet in London with American envoy Steve Witkoff to discuss the possibility of resuming negotiations for a comprehensive deal to release all detainees and end the war in Gaza.

The source stated that the Americans see an opportunity to resume negotiations between Israel and Hamas in the next two weeks despite the commencement of the ground operation in Gaza City.

The source also indicated that the Americans believe this will not be possible if the crisis between Qatar and Israel continues, referring to the repercussions of the Israeli aggression and the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha on the ninth of this month.

For its part, Israeli Channel 12 reported that the meeting between the Israeli minister and the American envoy will take place this evening in the British capital.

The Israeli aggression occurred while Hamas was considering Trump's proposal for an agreement on a prisoner exchange and ending the ongoing war in Gaza for nearly two years.

Hamas has consistently affirmed its readiness for a comprehensive deal that leads to a definitive end to the war, the withdrawal of occupation forces, and the establishment of an independent committee to manage the Gaza Strip, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the mediators' efforts by launching a military operation aimed at occupying Gaza City.

Netanyahu set conditions for accepting any agreement, including security control over Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas.

Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump recently issued what appeared to be threats to Hamas and a green light for Israel to launch a large-scale military operation in Gaza City.

In March of last year, Israel overturned the ceasefire agreement reached at the beginning of the year, and since then, the pace of the war on Gaza has escalated, while Israel imposed strict restrictions on the flow of aid, leading to widespread famine among the besieged population.
