British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said that the ground attacks launched by the Israeli army to occupy the city of Gaza are "irresponsible and horrifying."
Cooper added: "The new attack by the Israeli army on Gaza is completely irresponsible and horrifying." She noted that this step "will lead to more bloodshed, the killing of more innocent civilians, and endanger the remaining hostages."
She continued: "We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, unlimited humanitarian aid, and a pathway to lasting peace."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army announced the start of a wide-ranging ground operation in the city of Gaza. The Israeli army stated: "The activities of the forces have begun according to the operational plan and are set to expand based on the assessment of the situation."
This came alongside a violent Israeli attack on the city of Gaza, where Palestinians experienced a bloody night during which 46 people were killed, while others were injured and missing, amid intense aerial and artillery bombardment, and the detonation of explosive robots to demolish homes and residential buildings in the northwest of the city.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,964 dead and 165,312 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, along with famine that has killed 428 Palestinians, including 146 children.
