The Temporary Constitution Drafting Committee completes the draft of its internal regulations and forms its committees to begin its work.

The committee for drafting the interim constitution of the State of Palestine concluded its fourth meeting yesterday evening, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

At the end of the meeting, the committee issued a statement welcoming all efforts and positions supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, the latest being the adoption by the General Assembly of the New York Declaration, and the French-British-German statement calling for an end to the war and aggression against the Gaza Strip.

It added: The mission entrusted to the committee aligns with the Palestinian leadership's direction to continue the political struggle until the embodiment of independence and the features of Palestinian sovereignty, and it is a clear expression of the Palestinian will to reject all attempts of extortion and intimidation practiced against the State of Palestine, its leadership, and its people, to concede national rights and constants.

It further stated: At this stage, where countries around the world are increasingly recognizing the State of Palestine, especially the recognitions that will be announced by several countries during the General Assembly in New York, it places upon the national community the responsibility to work and prepare for the achievement of national accomplishments and to establish them on the ground in the independent State of Palestine with its capital, Jerusalem.

The committee announced that it has completed drafting the final version of its internal regulations, to be submitted to His Excellency the President for approval and ratification, and has formed its specialized committees to begin their work immediately, with diligent steps towards completing the interim constitution, which are:

Committee on Constitutional Principles, Preamble, and Amendments
Committee on Legislative Authority and Elections.
Committee on Executive Authority.
Committee on Public Rights, Freedoms, Duties, and International Treaties.
Committee on Judicial Authority and the Rule of Law.
Committee on Institutionalization, Local Governance, Public Administration, and Security Apparatuses.
Committee on Coordination and Drafting.
