The three major European countries (E3); Britain, France, and Germany, issued a joint statement condemning the Israeli attack on the negotiating delegation of Hamas in the Qatari capital, Doha.
This came in a joint statement from the foreign ministries of the three countries, in which they expressed their condemnation of the Israeli attack, describing it as a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and likely to increase tensions in the region.
The statement noted that such actions jeopardize the possibility of releasing the remaining prisoners and ending the war in Gaza.
It called on all parties to make urgent new efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement.
The statement emphasized the solidarity of the three countries with Qatar, affirming the vital role it plays in mediation efforts alongside Egypt and the United States.
The three countries also called for an end to Israeli military operations in Gaza, pointing out that they are causing mass displacement of civilians, destroying essential infrastructure, and resulting in other losses.
On Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that it had launched an airstrike on the Hamas leadership in Doha, which Qatar condemned, asserting its right to respond to this aggression that killed a member of the Qatari internal security forces.
Meanwhile, Hamas announced that its negotiating delegation led by its chief in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, survived an assassination attempt, while the director of his office, Jihad Labed, and his son, Hamam al-Hayya, along with three companions, were killed.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 64,718 deaths and 163,859 injuries among Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, along with hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, and famine that has killed 411 Palestinians, including 142 children.
The Israeli attack is a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and increases tensions in the region.
