France promises to intensify pressure on Israel to stop the war on Gaza.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that his country intends to increase pressure on the Israeli government to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, expressing hope that some EU countries will change their stance against punishing Israel.

Barrot declared in an interview with France Inter radio today, Friday, that "what is happening in Gaza with famine and what is happening in the West Bank with settlement and financial blockade of the Palestinian Authority is all unacceptable. We must increase pressure on the Israeli government."

The French minister confirmed that the establishment of a Palestinian state is "the only solution" for achieving peace and stability in the region, as "the only alternative is a state of perpetual war."

Barrot noted that the European Union has been unable to impose sanctions on Israel due to a lack of consensus, but he believes that this may change.

He said that "the President of the European Commission expressed - for the first time in her speech before the European Parliament on Wednesday - openness to sanctioning some Israeli officials and reconsidering some trade aspects of the partnership agreement between the EU and Israel."

At the same time, the French minister called for the condemnation of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), as the United Nations General Assembly votes today, Friday, on the "New York Declaration," which aims to revive the two-state solution and explicitly states the exclusion of Hamas from governance in the Gaza Strip.

Since October 2023, Israel - with American support - has been waging a genocidal war against the residents of the Gaza Strip, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls to stop the war and orders from the International Court of Justice in this regard.

The genocide has resulted in more than 64,000 martyrs and 163,000 injured, with 411 Palestinians, including 142 children, dying from starvation, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
