The official Israeli broadcasting authority stated that "six soldiers from the Givati Brigade of the army refused to participate in a new round of fighting in the Gaza Strip, prompting their leadership to punish them with imprisonment."
The authority reported that security sources said, "The six soldiers were supposed to enter the northern Gaza Strip, specifically the Jabalia area, but they informed their leaders that they were suffering from physical exhaustion and psychological pressure after nearly two years of continuous operations inside Gaza."
The authority added that "despite their warnings about their psychological deterioration, they were brought to a military trial."
It noted that three of the soldiers were convicted of "refusing orders" and sentenced to 10 days in prison, while two others received suspended prison sentences, and the sixth is awaiting retrial.
According to the authority, the six soldiers "participated dozens of times in incursions into the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, lost comrades during battles, and faced difficult field incidents."
This incident adds to previous similar cases that reflect increasing signs of discontent and psychological exhaustion within the ranks of the Israeli occupation army, nearly two years after the Gaza war, amid ongoing casualties and continuous field pressure.
In recent times, dozens of Israeli military personnel have announced their refusal to participate in the war in Gaza, asserting that its continuation aims to keep Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in power at the expense of Israeli prisoners.
The occupying state estimates that there are 48 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, of whom 20 are alive, while more than 10,800 Palestinians are imprisoned in its jails, suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect, with many having died, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.
Repeatedly, Hamas has confirmed its readiness to release Israeli prisoners "all at once" in exchange for ending the genocide and withdrawing the Israeli army from Gaza and releasing Palestinian prisoners, but Netanyahu, who is wanted by international justice, evades this by insisting on the continuation of the occupation of Gaza.
The occupying state, with American support, is committing genocide in Gaza since October 2023, resulting in 64,718 martyrs and 163,859 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, and hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, with famine killing 411 Palestinians, including 142 children.
The soldiers' refusal to participate in the fighting reflects increasing discontent within the ranks of the occupation army.
