In an unprecedented escalation that threatens to widen the scope of the conflict, the occupation launched an airstrike on Tuesday against the Qatari capital, Doha, in an attempt to assassinate prominent leaders of Hamas, including the deputy head of the movement in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, and leader Zahir Jabareen.
Despite Hamas announcing the failure of the assassination attempt, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of six individuals, including Hamam al-Hayya, the son of leader Khalil al-Hayya, and his office director Jihad Labed, in addition to three of his escorts and a Qatari security personnel.
A leader in the movement confirmed that several of its members were injured, noting that the damage assessment process is still ongoing. The Israeli occupation army and the "Shabak" officially claimed responsibility for the attack, describing it as "a precise strike against the top leadership of Hamas."
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the attack and considers it a blatant violation of international laws.
