"The Prisoners' Authority": The imprisoned journalist Ali Al-Samoudi is suffering from poor health conditions.

The Palestinian Prisoners and Released Prisoners Commission stated today, Monday, that the imprisoned journalist Ali Al-Samoudi (60 years old) from the city of Jenin is suffering from a poor health condition and deliberate medical neglect. He is currently held in Negev Prison (Section 15) under difficult and inhumane living conditions.

Al-Samoudi reported that the Negev Prison administration has refused to provide him with medical treatment since his arrest, noting that he was subjected to brutal treatment upon his arrest. He was held in a military barracks in Jenin camp for eighty hours, handcuffed and blindfolded, without water, food, or medication. He was also severely beaten during his transfer to Megiddo Prison, his clothes were confiscated, and his glasses were broken.

Al-Samoudi is currently held with 160 other prisoners who are completely cut off from the outside world, facing systematic starvation and continuous assaults. His health condition is very poor, accompanied by severe pains in the stomach, colon, head, and eyes, urinary tract infections, loss of consciousness, and lack of balance. He is unable to sleep and has lost 40 kilograms of weight.

Regarding the conditions of the prisoners, Al-Samoudi conveyed through the commission's lawyer that the situation is extremely difficult, and assaults against prisoners are ongoing. They are also deprived of all basic needs and living essentials such as water, food, medicine, sugar, and salt.

Al-Samoudi told the commission's lawyer, "They informed me that I am detained because I am a journalist and a correspondent for Al Jazeera and Al-Quds newspaper, and we will not charge you with anything related to your journalistic work to avoid any reactions and international scandal for Israel. I was shot on the day my colleague Shireen Abu Akleh was martyred, so my arrest is arbitrary, unjust, and illegal."

Al-Samoudi was arrested on May 9, 2025, and was subjected to administrative detention, with an additional four-month renewal for the second consecutive time.
