The World Scout Movement expresses its deep concern over the horrific humanitarian conditions and the worsening threat of famine in the Gaza Strip, reiterating its call for an immediate ceasefire and ensuring urgent and safe access to humanitarian aid.
The organization confirmed in its statement that all children and youth, regardless of their nationality or beliefs, have the right to grow up in peace, with equal opportunities for education, health, and safety.
It also noted that more than 17,000 children have been killed, and 33,000 others injured in Gaza since October 2023, while forced displacement continues and families live in tragic conditions.
The statement added that hundreds of local scout leaders in Palestine continue their role in supporting children and youth despite the harsh conditions, by providing psychological and social support, informal education, as well as basic shelter, food, and first aid.
The World Scouts emphasized their support for the United Nations' call for an immediate ceasefire, ensuring unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, and the immediate release of all hostages, urging the international community and world leaders to demonstrate principled leadership for peace and to protect the rights of all.
