Channel 12 Hebrew revealed pessimistic estimates within the occupation's security establishment indicating that there will be no escape from imposing direct "Israeli" military rule over the entire Gaza Strip starting from next November.
According to the report, the Chief of Staff of the occupation, Eyal Zamir, will soon present this crucial recommendation to the political level of the occupation government. The recommendation states that in the absence of any practical and stable alternative for governing the sector, the occupation army will be forced to take full security and civil responsibility there.
These leaks reflect the depth of the predicament Israel faces regarding the "day after the war" issue, and the failure of Netanyahu's government to formulate a clear and internationally and regionally acceptable strategy for the future of Gaza.
These security estimates are based on the assumption that by November, and with the continued dismantling of Hamas's governmental capabilities without an alternative force capable of maintaining security and managing civil life, a catastrophic "security and administrative vacuum" will arise in the sector.
The occupation's security establishment believes that this vacuum will lead to a state of rampant chaos and the re-emergence of armed groups, which will compel the occupation to intervene directly and impose its complete control to prevent Gaza from becoming a renewed security threat on its borders.
The option of direct military rule by the Israeli occupation represents a scenario that successive occupation governments have long tried to avoid, due to its significant repercussions, which include: human cost: the need to keep large forces permanently inside the sector, exposing them to the risk of attrition and a prolonged guerrilla war.
Economic burden: taking direct responsibility for managing the lives of more than two million Palestinians. International isolation: facing widespread international condemnation and accusations of completely reoccupying the Gaza Strip.
This issue is one of the main points of contention within the Israeli occupation's War Council, as occupation ministers like Benny Gantz and the army pressure Netanyahu to make clear strategic decisions regarding the future of Gaza, which Netanyahu continues to postpone.
There will be no escape from imposing direct "Israeli" military rule over the Gaza Strip.
