Gaza records the highest number of dead from starvation in a single day.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today, Tuesday, the death of 13 citizens, including 3 children, due to famine and malnutrition within 24 hours, marking the highest number recorded in a single day since the beginning of the Israeli genocide and starvation war.

This raises the total number of dead from starvation to 361, including 130 children. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health warned of the accelerating consequences of the starvation disaster, noting a severe shortage of food and medical supplies that hinders the response to the worsening crisis.

In August alone, 185 Palestinians died due to starvation, as the Israeli blockade tightened and aid access was restricted. According to the ministry, 70 people, including 12 children, have died since the United Nations officially announced on August 22 the spread of famine in the Gaza Governorate, warning of its extension to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis within a few weeks.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that 43,000 children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition, in addition to more than 55,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women facing the same issue. It also indicated that 67% of pregnant women suffer from anemia.

The General Director Dr. Munir al-Bursh said in an interview with Al Jazeera that Gaza is being drained by slow death, "and famine is besieging all residents." He added, "We recorded today the highest mortality rate due to hunger, and people are dying in the streets," emphasizing that Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian conditions since the war began nearly two years ago.

Palestinian and international organizations have confirmed that there has been little change in addressing the conditions in the besieged sector since the UN announced the spread of famine, and that people are still starving due to a lack of supplies.

Starvation is intensifying as the Israeli army begins to implement the initial stages of its plan to invade and occupy the city of Gaza, having destroyed entire residential blocks in the neighborhoods of Shuja'iyya, Zaitoun, and Sabra, as well as in Jabalia in the northern sector, and started displacing thousands of residents.

Many countries and human rights and humanitarian organizations have condemned the Israeli army's operations, warning of a new bloody escalation and widespread displacement of the residents of Gaza City, which has a population of nearly one million.

Since October 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a genocide against the residents of the sector, which includes killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls to stop the war and orders from the International Court of Justice in this regard.

The genocide has resulted in more than 63,000 dead and 160,000 injured.
