The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas denied the rumors about an assassination attempt on the movement's political bureau member Khalil al-Hayya, confirming that the circulating news is merely false rumors. Sources within Hamas stated that these rumors come as part of the psychological and media war led by the occupation against our people and their leaders.
The sources emphasized that the occupation's attempts will not succeed in undermining the trust of our masses in their leadership, nor in extracting the steadfast positions embodied by Dr. al-Hayya and his comrades through a long journey of resilience and challenge. They stressed that rumors are the weapon of the powerless.
Hebrew platforms circulated news about an assassination operation targeting the prominent Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya in Turkey, which the movement categorically denied. Hamas confirmed in a previous statement that it refutes the claims regarding the assassination attempt on the head of the negotiating delegation.
Hamas called on media outlets and social media activists to be accurate in reporting this news and not to be drawn into Hebrew media, emphasizing the importance of media awareness in countering rumors.
It is noteworthy that the occupation has repeatedly threatened to assassinate Hamas leaders, with Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowing to assassinate Khalil al-Hayya and the leader of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, indicating that they are among the most targeted.
Khalil al-Hayya has held the position of Deputy Head of Hamas's Political Bureau since August 2024 and currently resides outside the Palestinian territories. Meanwhile, al-Haddad is considered one of the senior leaders in the Al-Qassam Brigades, where he serves as the commander of the Gaza City Brigade.
Rumors are the weapon of the powerless, and our people have become accustomed to emerging from such campaigns with greater steadfastness.
