The Israeli occupation forces have intensified their use of explosive robots to destroy residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, as they seek to eliminate what remains of the means of life for more than two million Palestinians. These robots leave massive destruction in the areas they invade, causing the bodies of those caught within their explosive range, which extends for hundreds of meters, to be shattered.
In recent months, the occupation army has detonated dozens of robots to expedite the complete surveying of residential neighborhoods and turn them to ash. An explosives engineering officer defines the robots as American-made "M113" personnel carriers, which the occupation army decommissioned after its aggression against Gaza in the summer of 2014.
The Israeli army has converted these carriers into explosive devices, placing tons of explosives inside the carrier's structure, then moving them towards residential areas to detonate remotely. The weight of the explosives carried by the carrier is estimated to be between 3 and 4 tons, making it capable of demolishing large sections of buildings.
The occupation uses these robots in conjunction with other military operations, where the timing of the explosion of explosive barrels among residential buildings is determined, leading to the destruction of the largest possible areas of neighborhoods without posing a danger to the lives of its soldiers.
The use of explosive robots began during the ongoing war on Gaza since October 2024, where the occupation implemented the "Generals' Plan" in the northern sector. The spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza described the impact of these robots as terrifying, given the massive destruction they leave in residential areas.
The occupation army used the robots in its ground operation in the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza, where vast neighborhoods were destroyed. The spokesperson confirmed that the occupation is currently using robots in its aggression on the Zaitoun neighborhood, where between 3 and 4 robots are detonated daily.
The robots cause total destruction in the areas where they explode, with a radius of 100 meters, and leave partial damage in buildings located within a radius of 300 meters. They also turn buildings to ash and burn a layer of soil exceeding 3 centimeters in thickness.
The Civil Defense crews recorded the intensive detonation of robots by the occupation army, which turned thousands of residential buildings into rubble. The director of ambulance services in the medical services described the scale of killing and destruction left by those robots as terrifying, as it forced people to flee en masse from their areas.
Many observers believe that the occupation army is using the robots to carry out the largest systematic destruction operation across all governorates of the Gaza Strip, reflecting the scale of the aggression it is waging against the Palestinians.
